Move Over Mel, Flight of the Conchords has Lotsa Fans Now

It turns out, the Berkeley Community Theater is not the best place to see comedians. One wants a cocktail table and a cocktail. That said, Monday night’s comedy concert with headliners Flight of the Conchords was about as great as a stadium-sized stand-up comedy event featuring large screen monitors to better see the performers’ facial expressions could be.

The Return of the Conchords: Acoustic Hipster Doofuses Folk it Up in Berkeley

Before HBO, Flight of the Conchords were known as New Zealand's 4th most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo. They developed a cult following (I, too drank the cool-aid) and snagged an HBO series...which was hipster doofus nirvana for about half of the first season.

Will HBO's Summer Heights High be the next Flight of the Conchords?

All of a sudden HBO is on the leading edge of funny. And if Summer Heights High (a mockumentary about Australian school life starring one guy—Chris Lilley) is anywhere near as ridiculous as Flight of the Conchords, then the cable network will have us keeled over again. Based on the trailer, we're pretty sure they're on to something. To get an exclusive screening of the series head over to the Rickshaw Stop on 10/27 from 7 to 10PM.
