Bush Street Becomes Obama Street

We're pretty sure this is illegal, but it's still awesome.  Check out the stickers placed over every Bush Street sign in the city.

Where to Party on Inauguration

At long last, the day we've all been waiting for—out with the old and in with the new. We're guessing every home, bar and office across the country will be tuned in to see Barack address the nation for the first time as President of the United States, but if you're looking to get out for this momentous occasion, here's where to party.

700 Billion Dollar Martinis at Kells and Cigar Bar

If you’re anything like us, you can’t wait until Tuesday to celebrate inauguration.  So let's get the party started now – with some cocktails.  Head over to Kells or Cigar Bar and indulge in the “$700 Billion Martini,” ordered up as part of SVEDKA Vodka’s "Join the Party," marketing campaign, which launched on Super Tuesday and has a yearlong mission to put the “party” back in politics.  They're serving the martinis now through inauguration night.

Here’s what’s in them:

Liberal amounts (ha! get it?) of  SVEDKA Vodka

1 part fresh lime juice

1 part simple sugar

Conservative splash (ha! again) of Lemon Juice

Garnish with $700 Billion of freshly minted US Currency
(fresh mint works too)

More Obama Love: Yes Pecan!

We’ve already given you a couple of things to do on January 20 to ring in our new Mr. President, but for the hedonists among us, here’s a much simpler way to get in the inaugural spirit: Go to any Ben & Jerry’s and order a scoop of the newest flavor, “Yes Pecan!”

Oh, those clever Vermonters. The ice cream is described as “amber waves of buttery ice cream with roasted non-partisan pecans.” We’re wondering if maybe those nuts, perhaps sourced from the great pecan-producing state of Texas, are B & J’s attempt at reaching across the aisle?

Celebrate Obama's Inauguration Without Spending $400,000

With all the excitement about Barack Obama arriving in at the Hay-Adams hotel in DC, Sasha and Malia starting at Sidwell Friends School, the choice of family dog  – and oh yeah, incoming President Obama saving the world, many of us have forgotten the other awesome thing about Inauguration Day --- Bush is leaving!!!!!!!!!  That's right, it's time to celebrate.

Love Bytes: No more "googling" of perspective dates or mates for Marissa Mayer (head Google gal and a Board of Trustees member for both the SF Ballet and SFMOMA) and Zachary Bogue (lawyer, real estate broker and both a Harvard and Georgetown Law grad). The dashing duo announced their betrothal to 350 friends and family last weekend during a holiday-themed soiree at Marissa's Peninsula residence.
