Say what you will about the two rival cities, but it seems like a lot of our Bay Area friends are moving south to LA, and (barely) cheaper rent can't be the only reason. We talked to five ex-pats in the creative field who traded in San Francisco's hills for a little more sunshine, and asked them what they miss the most about the glorious Bay Area.
With San Francisco summer basically here (Karl!), we’re heading south to Los Angeles for sun and warm weather. Instead of sitting in traffic on the 405 or the 101, we’re heading outdoors to check out some of the more peaceful scenes that the City of Angels has to offer. And we’ll definitely catch a sunset or two.
Thanya Abigail Ponggawa, an Indonesian lovely, currently studying in LA. Thanya was in SF this weekend, "with [her] family for a weekend getaway from the heat in LA." When I first spotted her I actually only saw the back of her outfit, but was then happy to discover her stunning architecural sunglasses and adorable necklace -- the whole outfit is such a fantastic mix.
If you're craving a weekend in the City of Angels, May's the month to do it. The summer throngs haven't yet arrived, but the weather's gorgeous, there are new eateries to try, and perhaps the best live theater on the West Coast playing through the end of the month.
