Here come more people tickling our eardrums:
I dedicate this week to all the ladies. Yes, all of them, your wife included. We dudes are quite fond of you mysterious creatures and your pleasant voices — please keep up the good work. In honor of all that is lovely about the better half, I present five acts coming through town that owe much, if not all of their appeal to brave, talented women. Behold:
We’re gonna call the next seven days Oh-I-Didn’t-Realize-They-Were-Still-Around Week in SF. We’ve got more than a few acts coming through town who apparently still exist. To wit:
Just a thought: next time a San Francisco landmark turns 75 years old and dazzles citizens with a mind-blowing light show, can we blast electronic music downward from the sky via blimps? Right?
Moving on. Put these five shows on your radar this week and keep the party going:
Inspired by the audio-video matchmaking that went down at AT&T Park Friday night, courtesy of Roger Waters, we humbly present a this-week-in-concert column with music videos, and only music videos. Anyone who has ever seen a Pink Floyd music video/movie (or tried to sync Dark Side of the Moon with Wizard of Oz) knows the power of sensory synchronicity, when the eyes and ears conspire to make art doubly transcendent. So this week, our words bow to the A/V departments of our favorite acts coming through S.F. over the next seven days. Behold...
March forth, audial soldiers.
May we suggest chasing your Valentine's Day love tonic with a musical back? We've got one V-Day concert on the docket and a bouquet of shows later in the week capturing our hearts, minds and ears:
Plenty of interesting shows to keep Bay Area music lovers up late this week. In addition to the following shows, we've also got Wilco at the Fox (sold out) on Tuesday, RJD2 at Manor West Wednesday, Martin Sexton at the Fillmore on Thursday, Cold Cave at the Elbo Room on Friday and The Jayhawks at the Fillmore on Saturday. Yes, it's one of those why-we-love-SF weeks.
