Beck or The Black Keys?

The city is abuzz with Outside Lands talk.  So level with us, what time are you sneaking out of work today?  And on a scale of 1-10, how much are able to concentrate right now?  We're coming in at about a 3.

Who are you most excited to see this weekend?  There's Radiohead, obviously, but the really revealing question is this: who are you going to see at 7:00?  Beck or The Black Keys?  Quite the conflict.

STS9 Rocks the Greek Theatre

UC Berkeley’s Greek Theatre filled with movement last Friday as Sound Tribe Sector Nine and Bassnectar layered beats, flickered into their signature light show and kicked cuts from recently released Peaceblaster.

By the time dusk rolled to dark and glowsticks started to light up, it was a total dance party.  Costume-clad audience members waved ferry-like shawls and sported Kiss-like face paint.

Sound Tribe Sector Nine, Bassnectar at the Greek Theatre

Electro-heroes and local stars Bassnectar and Santa Cruz's Sound Tribe Sector Nine spin the Greek Theater in Berkeley Saturday night. Watch out for dirty bass beats twisted with synth atmospherics and funky cuts from Sound Tribe's recent release, Peaceblaster.  Doors open at 5:30.

Beyond Outside Lands: August Concerts

Beck, Radiohead, and Wilco.  Maybe you've heard of them. They're playing a little festival called Outside Lands, which will undoubtedly be the highlight of many a San Franciscan's August (in September, get stoked for Treasure Island time...).  But don't let these behemoths overshadow your August music calendar - there's still a ton of great shows happening around town -  The New Pornographers, Ozomotli, Gnarls Barkley, Steel Pulse, and !!! (Chk Chk Chk), to name a few.  Check our listings and round out your August live music sampling.
