Since opening the first Gimme Shoes in 1984, co-owners Jared Warwick and Leigh Stackpole have and continue to feed the constant cravings of San Francisco's shoe obsessed (and they've converted a few along the way, too). We're certainly believers. Gimme is, without fail, well stocked with everything from intellectual British to funky-forward Euro footwear. Here are our seven summer favorites, for the boys.
Here's the rundown on the SF Symphony's Black and White Ball: Paul Simon. Cyndi Lauper. SF Symphony. June 2nd. Civic Center. All. For. A. Great. Cause.
With its unique indoor/outdoor block party approach and killer pop/rock lineup, this is one fundraiser that pushes the society event boundaries. That said, why not push back a little with an edgier take on black tie attire?
Meet Gabriel (Gabe) Johnson, born in Spanish Harlem, raised in Boston and, as of six years ago, a proud resident of San Francisco.
Gabe works as an adman, writing slick copy for the local boutique agency, Engine Company 1. When he's not busy getting wordy, he's involved in the local art and music scenes or in the kitchen, cookin' up something tasty.
Gabe kind of does it all, and he looks damn good while doing it. From nautical stripes to frayed-edge shorts, check out what he's wearing this spring.
To celebrate 10 days 'til Christmas, we decided to put together a collection of 10 ties we love. Ranging from eclectic to minimal, and boasting exquisit details, these ties are the perfect gift solutions for the dapper and dandy men in your life.
Baby, it's cold outside. And it's only getting colder. Warm up with these toasty-hot men's accessories -- all sourced from neighborhood boutiques. Ranging from a not-too-puffy vest to a locally designed woven leather cap, these manly treasures will accent your winter wardrobe while blocking out the cold.
With overcast skies rolling in, add a little kick to your step with a pair of bright laces. These six classics with a twist range from business casual (subtle blue-on-black action), to dramatic, head-turning laces for the more daring San Francisco man. For an easy alternative, try switching out the laces (and resole, if needed) to updated your favorite pair.
Last week, we launched our Women's Summer Sale Picks -- this week, we thought we'd give some big love to SF menswear. From Unionmade to Goorin Bros, and covering everything from comfy denim to two-tone oxfords, we pulled the sharpest men's goods from local boutiques -- all on sale!
Happy shopping, (ladies and) gents.
This Week in Fashion: Eric Dane at Kiehl's Grand Opening, Heliotrope Celebrates 1 Year, Custom Suiting from PDX + Mad Summer Sales
1. The Return of Summer Party at Cary.Lane (560 Laguna St.), Friday June 17, 8pm-11pm.
Celebrate summer with the launch of Cary Lane's private label menswear, 30% off all merch and one badass party. Enjoy free drinks and appetizers from nearby joints, music from DJ Corey Sleazemore, artwork by Melanie Eusebio, and tons of $1 raffle prizes (drawing at 10:30pm sharp!). We recommend wearing that hot new get-up you've been waiting to bring out -- it's time to see and be seen.
2. Kiehl's Grand Opening Party & Fashion Benefit with Eric Dane at Kiehl's (971 Fillmore St.), Saturday June 18, 12:30pm - 1:30pm.
Dr. McSteamy himself, Eric Dane, a SF native, and his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, will host the Kiehl's Since 1851 Fillmore St. store opening this Saturday. Kiehl's US President, Chris Salgrado, will arrive to this already hot photo-op via motorcycle, accompanied by a hardcore pack of SF bikers, naturally. In honor of Dane and the store launch, Kiehl's is donating $10,000 to the Homeless Prenatal Program, a local charity working to beat childhood poverty. Bonus: the first 160 people (get there early!) will receive a free Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser. And if you're a true last-minute gifter, stock up on some Facial Fuel for dear ol' dad.
We're big fans of functional fashion. Get some street action out of your swimwear this season with a maillot that doubles as a bodysuit. After all, you never know when a morning bike ride through Crissy Field will end with spontaneous swimming at Baker Beach, or when an epic night out will end with a late night hot-tub session.
We love these six swimsuits for their flattering, beach-flirty designs, but also for their urban wearability. Paired with high-waisted shorts or a long and lean skirt, you'll see that these suits go well beyond the beach.

How would you define your style? "Simple and easy. Style's about balancing how you see yourself and how you want other people to see you. Everyone has some style hidden away somewhere, even if they hide it away in their fanny pack."
