san francisco boutiques
Ever since the 1767 Church Street (formerly the Church Street Apothecary, but that’s another story) closed earlier this year and rumors started bouncing around the Twitterverse that Deirdre Nagayama and Stacy Rodgers of She-Bible would take over the Noe Valley boutique and open their own called Curator in its place, we’ve been eagerly waiting to get in the door.
Because, you know, sometimes you just gotta learn to deal....
Macy’s: On Friday and Saturday, buy a $10 ticket when you visit Bay Area Macy’s locations and save 10 to 20 percent on most purchases during this in-store promotion for Macy’s annual Passport benefit. Proceeds from ticket sales support HIV/AIDS organizations.
We know. It's Monday. Sorry about that. But at least you can start your week off with some good reads from our feeds…
We love scarves all year round, but we will admit occasionally falling out of love with our current tying techniques. FocusOnStyle.com’s Sharon Haver comes to our rescue with short how-to video 10 Ways to Wear a Scarf.
Another how-to vid we’re diggin’ this week comes from Sephora’s Beauty and the Blog. It’ll teach you the basic steps you need to go dark and sultry this fall with an ultra smoky eye.
Because it doesn’t pay to pay more than you have to.
Gucci arrives at DSW: The Union Square location of this discount shoe retailer is one of 14 stores nationwide to receive shipments of shoes and accessories by Gucci, the latest high-end brand to land in the store. Expect to find items by the iconic Italian label going for up to 60 percent off retail.
It may be c-c-cold outside, but at least these deals are hot....
Union Street Sidewalk Sale: While plenty of San Francisco streets seem to be having block-long sales (just walk Maiden Lane, and you’ll see what we mean), others are making it official. Head to Cow Hollow this weekend for a three-day sale that we hear from retailer Mabel Chong will feature just about everybody along this popular San Francisco shopping corridor. For her part, Chong will be offering 20 percent off new items and up to 70 percent off previous collections to make way for fall inventory.
Because paying full price is so '08....
Nordstrom: Nordstrom stores across the Golden State opened their doors at 7 a.m. today to kick off an Anniversary Sale that runs through Sunday in stores and online through Aug. 3. New fall arrivals for men, women and children are discounted up to 40 percent.
Beklina: This Santa Cruz-based online retailer of coveted indie labels has marked summer styles down 20 to 50 percent. A brief perusal this morning revealed deals on Stewart + Brown, Ivana Helsinki, Edun, Fox in Mociun, Linda Loudermilk and Mr. Larkin.
We’re sorry, but sometimes we resent the reality that, like, ev-uh-ry second, our cell phones are costing us money. It’s high time they did something to save us a buck. On that front, a new weapon we’re wielding this week turns our cellies into deal-hunters, but stops short of scaring us with the kind of spammy grossness we abhor.
Add some fireworks to your wardrobe with this week’s deals:
Acrimony: The Big Summer Sale at this Hayes Valley store means 70 percent off sale merchandise and 40 percent of regularly priced items from hard-to-find and independent brands such as Tankus, Hyden Yoo, April77, Mini Market and Endovanera.
Agent Provocateur: Head to this steamy style emporium’s Union Square outpost or shop online for up to 50 percent off. Then watch the sparks fly.
If you’ve been looking for an excuse – or an incentive – to visit Union Street lately, here it is: tomorrow’s Union Street Girls Night Out.
Four merchants along Cow Hollow’s main shopping drag are banding together to entice shoppers with all-day sales on merchandise, in-store wine and edibles and goodie bags for the stalwart style-seekers who huff it to each participating merchant.
