SF Design Center
On April 26, discarded clothing donated to the St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco was transformed into stunning fashions, decorative accessories and exquisite home décor at the annual Discarded to Divine fashion show. Continuing with tradition, this year’s designers were inspired by items in the de Young Museum’s collection, which this year included the popular visiting exhibit, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gautier: From Sidewalk to Catwalk.
Think your dog is a beauty queen trapped in a canine's body? Let your pup unleash her inner fabulosity at the SF Design Center's first annual Paw Parade on September 8th. It's a doggie fashion runway show in which all eyes will be on pets strutting their stuff in outfits and accessories made with the amazing fabrics and textiles from SFDC's world-class showrooms.
In this crazed era of obsessive Facebook stalking, Foursquare check-ins and Perezhilton.com peepings, the Academy of Friends' 31st Annual Voyeur Gala fits like a glove. Best of all, it takes place the night of the Oscars, so you won't have to feel weird about shamelessly telling everyone about your celebrity crushes or pop culture gossip.
Two sales in one? This could be trouble. If you haven't been over to the Design Center in a while, this weekend would be the time to show a little love (and find a few major deals in the process). Starting Saturday at 9AM, showrooms throughout the building will be participating in a major sample sale with furnishings at up to 70% off the retail price. Proceeds from the $10 ticket charge will benefit SF State's Interior Design program and with admission you'll get a coupon for 10% off one item, so go ahead and shop like a designer.
