This Week in Fashion: Local Designer Camelia Skikos Fall/Winter 2011 Collection + Sunday Fashion Show
Camelia Skikos' latest collection, "Out of the Blue" showcases her signature cut-out overlays and geometric lines, but this time with sharp doses of blue, cream and black.
The SF-based designer studied fashion design in Europe before making her way to the Bay in 2003, to be the head designer at Levi's. Skikos' is now focused on her own line (which is 100% made in California), but also teaches fashion at the Academy of Art University.
SF Fashion Week is upon us... Here's what you don't want to miss:
1. Fashion/Tech Workshops at the Apple Store (1 Stockton St.), Monday August 8-Wednesday August 10, 5pm-7pm, Free.
As part of this year's Bay Area tech-meets-fashion theme, numerous tech and fashion industry speakers will hold small workshops at the Union Square Apple Store. The workshops will touch on everything from how maximize your Mac for fashion, to the ins-and-outs of starting a shoe company.
So you're a designer, and if you had time to spare for the drama that is reality TV, you would have won your season of Project Runway. Or maybe you're not great with needles and thread, but you have the eye to round-up exclusive goods for a slamming new boutique. If you're all fashion, but need a little help on the business end, check out The San Francisco Fashion and Merchants Alliance (SFFAMA) Mash-up event, "How to Start a Business in Fashion", Thursday night at Pigment Cosmetics.
Yes, the rumors are true.
San Francisco Fashion Week(end) is back and we couldn't be more excited about the chance to see the latest collections from emerging local designers come down the runway.
(Full disclosure: we may also like getting dressed to the nines to do our best Anna Wintour impression.)
With festivities beginning at 6 p.m. on Friday, we're opting for a fashion-forward ensemble that's sure to get just as many compliments at the office as in the front row.
So without further ado, this week's look:
One glance at our calendar made something very clear, there's much too much happening this week to keep it all to ourselves. So strap on your walking heels and get ready for some serious summer shopping:
