Ladies and gents, Fashion's Night Out is tonight. It'll be a night of epic mingling, partying and, of course, shopping. Since we're betting you'll be in and out of fitting rooms, opt for an easy, printed dress and minimal jewelry (in our experience, necklaces tend to tangle and earrings fall out). Also, do yourself a favor and keep your purse light – you'll be hauling shopping bags soon enough! And for the ultimate comfort-meets-mad-style footwear, try a pair of architectural cork wedges.
If you swear by the hard rules of fashion, then consider this your last call for wearing white. Fortunately, this Labor Day weekend, the forecast is set for sunny skies and an easy, breezy 70-degrees. So go on, wear those whites while you still can.
While the forecast is promising, if you're spending time on the windy waters, or looking for a nice day-to-night ensemble, opt for a maxi dress and pack a light sweater. Add spice with a few vibrant accessories, a finish with messy braid and a coral red lipstick. Bon weekend.
The 3rd Annual SF Street Food Festival is upon on us and well, a girl's gotta eat! We say dig in -- and look good while doing it.
As ladylike as we know you are, when you're standing and eating saucy truck food with your hands all day, spills are bound to happen. Keep them minute with a printed frock (this one has a fitted bodice and forgiving tummy, too!). Also, keep your hands busy with food -- not fuss -- with a crossbody bag, and stand up to those spiced-up eats with a cool pair of black suede shoes.
SF Street Style: Local Jewelry Designers Spotted in Simple Pieces + Great Shoes at New Berkeley Boutique, Viv&Ingrid at Oxford Hall
Jewelry designers, Vivian Wang and Ingrid Chen, of Viv&Ingrid, were rocking some killer flats at a launch party last week for their new Berkeley gift shop, Viv&Ingrid at Oxford Hall. The darling boutique is full of dreamy, whimsical decor and full of pretty, witty little things -- just as every great gift shop should be.
Now, designer are typically known for dressing very casually and Viv&Ingrid were no exception. They did however, step up their shoe game -- love! I really like the detailing on both pairs of flats -- the rhinestone cut-outs on the Vivian's yellow flats, and the asymmetrical line and d'Orsay cut on Ingrid's black pointies.
The 2nd Annual Salsa Festival on The Fillmore will take over 11 venues, with 12 live bands, this Friday and Saturday evening. Each night begins with a free outdoor concert and beginner salsa lesson, so no excuses! And even if you can't quite step to the rhythm, looking the part is half the battle. Here's a glitzy little number, perfect for an evening of the best SF salsa.
From Proenza Schouler’s buckled purses to Marc Jacobs’ straw slings, the Spring/Summer 2011 runway was whipped up in a flurry of long shoulder straps. Not all trends make it from the runways of NYC to the streets of SF, but we love these crossbody bags because they're ultra practical. And in a city full of street food, iPhones, bikers and travel junkies, it's always great when practical meets stylish. So stop worrying about your purse and let your hands go this spring with a cute, colorful crossbody bag.
Whether you like to carry your life with you, or need a smaller purse that lets you dance the night away, we have 7 great crossbody bags to splurge on this spring.
