1. Fried chicken sandwich at Showdogs
I’m digesting this as I write, having just scarfed down the perfect fried chicken sandwich ($7.50) from Showdogs (brought to us by the Foreign Cinema folks). Foreign Cinema’s fried chicken has received deserved accolades, but set between two soft buns, topped with cole slaw touched with fresh chilies to give it some heat, and slathered in lemon-cayenne aioli, this sandwich has that soft/hot/crunchy/just a little bit spicy thing going on that is hard to put down. Diet be damned.--Sara Deseran

1. Banana Cream Pie from Mission Pie
I've long heard the banana cream pie is Mission Pie's calling card, so in an effort to keep warm lately, I've been indulging in a couple of shared slices with my boyfriend after dinner.

1. Succulent Wall Hanging from Succulence
I’m not one for bow-tied wreaths a la Martha Stewart but I’m all about this succulent wall-hanging ($225) available at Succulence, one of the coolest little stores in Bernal Heights. The shop which used to be tucked away behind Four Star Video on a back patio and cottage, has now expanded into the indoor arena too, focusing on terrariums (which are very hot right now, btw) and more indoor gardening projects. Pick up Home for the Holidays to watch while you’re at it.

1. Lobel's Meat Bible from Chronicle Books

I've just received Lobel's Meat Bible, because I'm really trying to drive a, um, a steak into the heart of my former vegetarian self. I'm not about to start butchering my own cows or anything, but I do want to start learning about the different cuts of meat.

1. Brunch at Piccino Cafe
The coffee is strong, you can get pizza with an egg on top, and unlike Just For You across the street, there's never a line. —Jessica Battilana

1. Ragazza Take-Out Pizza
What's been really exciting in my life recently is the opening of Ragazza, just a block away from my apartment in the undefined cross-section that is Lower Haight/Haight/NoPa.  And now the news that they're going to start doing take-out (announced via their twitter last night)?

Here's what we're into this week.

1. 2011 Calendar from Pie Bird Press

It's not too early for the holidays, so it's not too early for 2011 calendars. I'm scoping out this letterpress one from Pie Bird Press (which we blogged about on sister site California Home + Design earlier this month). It highlights which fruits and veggies are in season each month, a handy tool for anyone trying to eat sustainably. -Jennifer Pollock

2. Midcentury Mobler

This is my latest Craigslist find. Julian and Gabe: Two guys (with girlfriends, they clarified) and a Castro garage full of midcentury furniture. I’m redecorating our new house and even CB2 seems pricy about now. These guys refurbish everything themselves—from chairs to desks—and then sell it on their little website (or via Craigslist), all at very reasonable prices. I haven’t made the plunge yet, but I missed the boat on this nine-drawer dresser in walnut. They’ll also scout for specific things for you.
