1. Martha Davis Boots

I had a friend once who’s email handle was “Die with Boots On.” I get it. The boot being the one and only practical shoe of this finicky hot/cold city, I spend a lot of time obsessing over them. Local shoe designer Martha Davis has a pair for fall that I currently covet. I love the heel—not too stripper high, not too granny low— the back lace up and the chestnut color (although it also comes in smoke, gold and black nappa). Not cheap, but you have to pay to be a fashion locavore. $465 at Metier (my other favorite store), metiersf.com. - Sara Deseran

1. "Discovering" The Avett Brothers
You know that great feeling you get when you "discover" an author or musician that you love and suddenly you have their entire oeuvre to enjoy? That's the experience I'm having with the Avett Brothers, a band from Concord, North Carolina. Their latest album, I and Love and You came out last fall, but it's new to me—and just in time!

1. Out the Door Chicken Buns

There are few things that bring me more joy than a steamed chicken bun from Out the Door. If you think that's a pathetic statement then you've clearly never had these buns.  Lately, I've been smuggling them into the Kabuki for the perfect foggy-day movie snack. And word on the street is that the Ferry Building Out the Door sold mini chicken buns two weeks ago for $1 a pop.

1. Peaches from Kashiwase Farms

The best place to eat a peach from Kashiwase Farms is over your kitchen sink, where you can let the juice drip off your chin and down your arm. The organic fruit is grown in Winton, and they bring them to the market (Saturday Ferry Plaza and Sunday Inner Sunset) dead ripe, so you don’t have to exercise any patience. I plan to eat them every week until the season’s over.” -Jessica Battilana

1. Mark Morford's Yoga Classes

Most people know Mark Morford as an outspoken, often-hilarious social commentator who writes for SFGate. But he’s also a kick-arse yoga instructor, and I mean he teaches the best yoga class I’ve ever done. It’s a vinyasa-flow class at Yoga Tree in the Castro on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:30pm. The room is huge (good thing, because it’s crowded), very warm (but not hot), and the poses are flowing and active, not beginner but definitely not super-advanced. And his music!
