Style Council 2014

Meet the 2014 Style Council

Each year, 7x7 salutes San Francisco tastemakers who are setting the tone for style here in the city. From fashion designers to interioristas to art connoisseurs, here are this year's seven trendsetters to watch.

Style Council 2014: The Battery's Thomas Moller

Tall, blond, and brooding, Thomas Moller, 54, worked as an abstract painter and collage artist in New York City for 30 years before nabbing the prestigious position of director of art at The Battery, a San Francisco private social club.

Style Council 2014: Fashion Designer Camelia Skikos

Before landing in San Francisco in 2003, fashion designer Camelia Skikos, now 39, spent her formative years under Communist rule in Romania, where, she confirms, “uniformity was the norm and individuality was harshly punished.”

Style Council 2014: Monogram Decor's Courtney Lake

In June 2010, just one year after Courtney Lake launched his home interiors blog, Courtney Out Loud, celebrity designer Nate Berkus asked him to appear on his (now-defunct) television talk show.

Style Council 2014: Unionmade's Todd Barket and Carl Chiara

Todd Barket and Carl Chiara

Todd Barket and Carl Chiara, co-owners of the men’s boutique Unionmade, have more than 35 years of fashion retail experience between them, mostly at the Gap and Levi’s, respectively, which explains how the couple honed their unparalleled sense of style.

Style Council 2014: Pramana Collective's Brandee Barker

Lauded by the New York Times for buying Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg his “first” suit, former Facebook head of public relations Brandee Barker has since moved on to helm the communications consulting company, The Pramana Collective (whose name includes the Sanskrit word for knowledge).

Style Council 2014: Designer Tina Frey

It’s natural that local resin crafter Tina Frey, 46—renowned for her streamlined dishware, jewelry, and furniture—would draw inspiration from places. The lifelong globetrotter (her husband, Jochen, calls her a gypsy) was born in Hong Kong but grew up in Alberta, Canada, and abandoned plans to move to London to continue her lucrative career in finance.

Style Council 2014: Arieff Communications' Adrienne Arieff

Adrienne Arieff

For two decades, Adrienne Arieff, founder of San Francisco–based boutique public relations firm, Arieff Communications, has been transforming brands into household names.
