It's been a busy, busy year for Miguel Lopez and Gabriel Yanez, co-owners of the high-end designer consignment haven, Sui GENERIS. Earlier this year, the duo expanded their Market St. men's store and opened Sui GENERIS Illa, their new women's destination. Now, just in time for the holidays, Sui GENERIS reveals their new e-boutique, stocked with vintage and new/never-worn men's and women's collectables from brands like Balenciaga, Christian Dior, Helmut Lang, Ann Demeulemeester, Burberry Prorsum and, of course, Chanel. Check out their holiday editorial (above) for a glimpse at the hottest pieces from their online collection.
This Week in Fashion: Pride Party at SuiGeneris, Millinery Trunk Show at Fiat Lux, Pret-A-Porter Fashion Show + Killer Sales
1. Pride in Style at SuiGeneris (2265 Market St.), Saturday June 25, 12pm-5pm.
Celebrate Pride at SuiGeneris's shopping, mingling and champagne Pride soiree. The consignment boutique is conveniently located in the Castro, and DJ Stanley Frank (Viennatta Discotheque) and Jason Kendig will be spinning all night. P.S. Don't forget to enter the raffle for two Rickshaw Bagworks Juanita More market messenger bags -- score.
2. Sundays at Church with Jasmin Zorlu + Elwyn Crawford at Fiat Lux (218 Church St.), Sunday June 26, 3pm-7pm.
Every last Sunday of the month, Fiat Lux celebrates a Bay Area designer with a mega trunk show, and 10% off. This month it's millinery madness with local hat heroines, Jasmin Zorlu and Elwyn Crawford. Stop by the boutique, grab a cup of chilled sangria, say hello to the designers, and treat yourself to a new headpiece for SF Pride.
In a world where denim and sneakers rule the streets, Patrick McDonald stands out, and not simply because of his seemingly endless array of Rod Keenan hats.
For girls with style-conscious guys in their lives, walking into Castro-based men's boutique Sui GENERIS hurt like hell. Faced with the glorious cuts, luscious fabrics, killer vintage concert tees and dapper shoes found in the impeccably-kept shop was enough to make any turned-out woman want to shed her dresses and start looking like Annie Hall.
San Francisco walks to the beat of its own fashion drum. We know this, but others, like Guy Trebay from The New York Times, describes our beloved foggy city as “the land that style forgot." A harsh, yet catching opener in his somewhat controversial article describing our truly eclectic sense of fashion.
Stop in to Sui Generis this Saturday to rub elbows with one of New York's up-and-coming designers, Sergios Davila. Recently awarded the FGI Rising Star 2009 Men's Apparel Award, Davila will be showcasing his Spring/Summer 1920s country club-inspired line. Get Gatsby this spring.
