When the dust settled after a busy offseason, it became clear that Tim Lincecum would not be part of the 2016 Giants’ rotation. When the ribbon was cut on renovations at AT&T Park, Timmy was waiting awkwardly from an undisclosed location in Arizona. For the first time since 2007, Opening Day had arrived and #55 wasn't wearing the orange and black. He wasn't wearing any uniform. So, I sat down to write about what it meant to me to grow up in the Era of Timmy.
Hungry for change? Tim Lincecum is. That’s why he teamed up with popchips to “chip in” for charity. As a part of the popchips game changers program, fans were encouraged to submit ideas on how Tim could give back to the San Francisco community. After nominations were submitted, the community voted on the local causes and event ideas that they wanted to see popchips and Tim Lincecum bring to life. The top 5 ideas were shared with Tim and the cause that hit a home run, was the Muttville Senior Dog Rescue program.
With baseball season upon us, our very own ace pitcher Tim Lincecum is poised to clinch another championship, or should we say, champion-chip. Lincecum has teamed up with popchips to “chip in” by donating his time and giving back to the city that has helped him become the star he is today.
Records may be broken tonight at the Giants game, and they don't have to do with baseball. SF Appeal has alerted us to a tribute to the 15th anniversary of the Grateful Dead's Jerry Garcia's death, in which over 7,000 kazoo-ists will congregate tonight at AT&T Park to blow "Take Me Out to the Ball Game" during the 7th inning stretch in an attempt to score a spot in the Guiness Book of World Records.
