All you treasure hunters will be happy to know that there's a new flea market on the block. And you don't have to cross any bridge for it. The maiden voyage of the Candlestick Park Antiques & Collectibles Faire embarked yesterday on what we hope to be a long-lived Sunday happening. There are over 500 booths selling antiques and collectibles twenty years or older.

Guns and Shades Pop-Up Shop Brings New, Rare Vintage Eyewear to Lower Haight

Yes, it’s June 14. But at a new pop-up shop in the Lower Haight, today’s all about Mayfourteenth.

That’s the name of a newly-launched eyewear brand from local photographer and designer Benjamin Belsky, who’s decked out the one-month-only Guns and Shades shop with his line, a weapon sculpture art installation by Peter Gronquist and an assortment of dead stock vintage frames that include a rare pair of Cazal shades priced at $1,200.

“They were big in hip hop in the 80’s,” Belsky says of the high-end, German eyewear brand’s pop-culture associations.

Gravel & Gold: A New Vintage and Design Destination in the Mission

The fact that Gravel & Gold’s URL could be read, rather morosely, as “Graveland Gold,” produces satisfied grins on the faces of Cassie McGettigan, Nile Nash and Lisa Foti-Straus, the twenty-something friends who co-own the new Mission District boutique that specializes in home accessories and vintage clothing. “It’s a little dark, but it seems to be an awesome name for a vintage store,” says McGettigan, a Virginia native.

Collective Opens on Valencia's Vintage Corridor

Fans of vintage and reconstructed vintage will want to check out just-opened Mission boutique Collective, headed up by Taxi CDC’s Deborah Brosenne.

Our Pick of the Litter: Fave Etsy Local Offerings

An online treasure trove for all things handmade and vintage, Etsy is one of our top go-to sources when we want to break away from our fast fashion fixes and opt for something unique but still inexpensive. After scouring the current Etsy Local shop for SF this week, we wanted to share what's impatiently waiting in our shopping cart:

1. The Cleo headpiece from jaybmillinery, $48: We are seriously smitten with this structural felt headpiece which also happens to be one of the more reasonably priced we've found. Side note: be sure to check out Jay B's other options while you're browsing as it was nearly impossible to choose a favorite.

Pin Up Bath and Beauty from Dolce Mia

We know, we know. It’s what’s below the surface that counts. But that doesn’t mean we aren’t suckers for pretty packaging. In the best possible world, we’d get substance and style wrapped up in the same attractive little bundle.
