Farmers market and the Ferry Building. Rosamunde sausages and a Toronado pint. Sunny days and Dolores Park. Here in San Francisco, some things just naturally go well with others. And at the Outbound, we’re big fans of pairing a morning outdoors with some of our favorite food and drinks. This weekend, head to Marin for some epic hikes — and don’t forget to pair them with some equally epic eats.
When it comes to microbrew and music, SF has long been a pacesetter for the rest of the nation. Plenty of brewers head to clubs in their off-hours, and everyone knows musicians can't resist a pint (or five), but the two industries haven't joined forces much-- until now. Crab season is upon us, and unless you're ready to grab a net and spend a day on the pier, you'll have to enjoy the fruits of someone else's labor. The weather looks clear this weekend, so pack your overnight bag and head up to Mendocino for a weekend of crab and wine.
Not to diss 2009 or jinx 2011, but this was an unusually exciting and solid year for our bustling little music scene. As the notoriously NYC-biased Pitchfork recently put it, our fair city is "slowly threatening to eclipse Brooklyn in the ranks of regional talent." Hey-yo! Listed below are seven full length releases (sorry, Girls) from the year that particularly stood out to us, along with five additional LPs too good not to mention.
