There was a lot of anticipation for the Wild Beasts, who were finishing up their U.S tour with this Outside Lands performance. In the last year, the indie rock band from England's Lake District has racked up some pretty solid praise for their 2009 release, Two Dancers. Their OL set had much room for improvement, a lot of it having to do with what seemed to be a muddled sound snafu. Still, this band has a devoted following and it will be exciting to see where they take things as they evolve.
Who’s afraid of Virginia Woolf -- or synthesizers? Two UK bands playing this week in San Francisco -- Editors (Monday, Feb. 8, at the Warfield) and Wild Beasts (Thursday, Feb. 11, at the Independent) -- find swathes of fresh intrigue in those patches and plug-ins, all while baring their breasts and revealing busily percolating emotional lives.
