Five Places to Drink with Your Dog in Tahoe

Dogs in nature

Need a drink after a long hike? Bring the whole family

Many animal loving visitors to the Tahoe area want to bring along their dogs to hike the mountain trails, splash around in the lakes or have a beer or cocktail. Wait…a beer or cocktail? Yes, several Tahoe bars, restaurants and resorts are dog-friendly and even have special treats for your pooch.

Ritz-Carlton's "Yappy" Hour

The Ritz-Carlton at Northstar invites resort and local guests (and their four-legged friends) to the Backyard Terrace of the hotel for Yappy Hour. Every Sunday from 3:00 to 4:30 (weather permitting), food and drink specials  are available for dog owners and dogs get to enjoy treats from a local dog bakery and chicken and beef bouillon flavored water. If you are jealous of your dog, the specials for humans include the Coco Creamsicle and the Hair of the Dog Bloody Mary with jalapeños and basil leaves.

The Brewery

The Brewery in South Lake Tahoe allows well-behaved dogs on the patio and  into the restaurant. Friday nights are popular for their pizzas and burgers and the samplers of their various brews including the Washoe Wheat and the Bad Ass.

Izzy's Burger Spa

Because of the smell of fried food, your dog will most likely drag you bodily into this funky burger stop in South Lake Tahoe. Izzy's serves some decent draft beer for around $3, but Fido will want a taste of Izzy's Bonzai Burger or the Bacon Cheddar Burger (hold the onions) while sitting out on the patio under the pine trees.

FiftyFifty Brewing Co.

This cool brewery in Truckee allows dogs on their patio and they even have water bowls for them. For the grownups, the FiftyFifty offers several of their own seasonal beers on tap including the Base Camp Golden Ale the Everlasting Hopstopper and the Rockslide IPA.

Blue Agave

If you are craving a margarita and your pet wants a dog cookie, the Blue Agave in Tahoe City has both. Along with their various margaritas (including the Pink Coyote and the Prickly Pear), the Blue Agave has bottomless chips and salsa and a happy hour from 4:00 to 7:00 Sunday through Thursday.
