Fashion Show

03/15/104:27 pm

Art and fashion come together in an amazing display of local and international talent at Revelation Couture. It's a fashion lover's dream come true—a collection of some of the most forward-thinking and innovative designers on the scene now including Harputs Market, Litter, Martha Davis, Platinum Dirt and Marisa Youlden. If that's not reason enough to get you down to Union Square, there will also be guest DJs and $6 champagne cocktails to sweeten the deal.

If San Francisco’s most fashionable enclaves seemed a little deserted over the last two weeks, it’s for good reason. Not a few fashion-minded Left Coasters flocked east for New York Fashion Week, and we’ve been eating up their electronic missives from under the tents ever since.

For a Fashion Week redux with a San Francisco perspective, we turn to a few of our favorite local fashion sources for the skinny:

A reminder that the runway need not be stomping ground solely for the stick-thin comes in the form of this weekend’s Kiss the Curves fashion show, scheduled for Saturday night at Oakland’s Historic Sweets Ballroom.

R&B radio personality Sterling James hosts the evening, whose focal point is a runway show directed by Charleston Pierce and featuring current collections from local and national plus-size apparel designers and boutiques.

Plenty of local fashion-philes have been overheard lamenting their West Coast tethers in recent days, thanks to that special time of year in New York, but we’re happy to report that style salve for runway-deprived San Franciscans is on its way.

The 27th annual Macy’s Passport benefit and fashion show takes place this week and, unlike the shows we’ve been drooling over in the Big Apple, this one is open to the public.
