Just what does it take to organize Golden Gate Park's epic Outside Lands festival, and who is behind it all? Meet Another Planet Entertainment's Executive Vice President Allen Scott, who is already the event's big acts for 2014. [via The Bay Bridged]

Bay Area shoegaze band Whirrreleased its newest EP Around (Graveface Records), which excels in massive, impenetrable walls of sound that beg to be blasted from speakers in a car going way too fast. They create a perfect little shoegaze universe, but will it lasso new listeners unfamiliar with the genre? Pitchfork, as usual, has many thoughts. [via Pitchfork]

It's hard to tell where Ty Segall will go next musically, and I'm not sure I wanna know; the element of surprise these days is far too rare a thing. That's why I'm content to eat up everything he deals my way, which includes his new band Fuzz's latest single "Loose Sutres," which hops from Sabbath-esque bass wizardry, to Blue Cheer bombasticity, to a John Bonham drum solo wig-out and back again. One of the bands I'm most stoked on these days is SF's post-punk outfit Wild Moth–so it was like Christmas this week to find a stream of the first half of their debut full-length Over, Again (out on Asian Man Records on September 17). And now I'm not sure I ever want to leave my computer, because I don't want to not be listening to these songs. Check them out for yourself. [via The Bay Bridged]
