This Friday, after a wait that at times seemed interminable, Hubert Keller’s Burger Bar opens! Beginning at 10:30 a.m. (really) you can crowd into the space and check out the buffalo, kobe, salmon and vegetarian burgers. But please note: you can only make reservations for parties of 13 or more.
Join the LitQuake Litcrawl on Saturday, October 17—phase one (from 6-7 p.m.) includes a Meatpaper party at Bar Tartine as well as a panel at 18 Reasons sponsored by Edible San Francisco featuring food writers Molly Watson, Jeannette Ferrary and writer-farmers Andy Griffin (Mariquita Farms) and Novella Carpenter. The street food carts will be traversing the route, so you can get your grub on while strolling between readings.
What’s New, Pumpkin?
’Tis the season: the first squash dinner of the season will be held October 17 at Midi restaurant, where chef Michelle Mah will prepare a panoply of dishes showcasing the vegetable, from pumpkin custard and kabocha squash salad to butternut squash-pecan ice cream. The five-course meal is $55 (excluding tax and gratuity).
Clay Pot Cooking
Paula Wolfert, the grande doyenne of Moroccan food, will be honored with a special dinner at Oakland’s Camino on October 19 in celebration of her latest book, Mediterranean Clay Pot Cooking. The evening begins with a 6 p.m. book signing, followed by a four-course meal cooked in the Camino fireplace. The cost is $75, including wine and books will be available for purchase.
Post-Season Happy Hour
Baseball season may have wrapped for our beloved Giants, but the party continues at Acme Chophouse. Tuesday through Friday head there for happy hour (from 4:30-6:30 p.m.) where you can enjoy $5 appetizers, $3 draft beers and other wine and cocktail specials. We think it’s the most fitting spot to watch the playoff/Series drama unfold.
