In celebration of their fourth anniversary (and a recent article in Playboy that named the spot among American’s top tequila lounges), Tres Agaves will be throwing a party on Sunday, October 25, beginning at 8 p.m.. Expect food specials, a DJ, and plenty of tequila.
To fuel yourself for the tequila-soaked Tres Agaves party (see above), spend the day biking around Fruitvale on a taco truck adventure with Cyrus Farivar (a taco-obsessed tech journalist). On October 26, Cantina owner/bartender Duggan McDonnell will demystify Mezcal, just in time for Day of the Dead celebrations. Join him on an exploration of this spirit—learn the history, create and sample some Mezcal creations and snack on slow-roasted pork (cochinita pibil) and Day of the Dead bread supplied by Luis Vazquez of Chaac Mool. What’s a week in SF without a discussion of food politics? On October 29 Nicolette Hahn Niman (author of Righteous Porkchop), David Evans of Marin Sun Farms and Aaron French, chef of Sunny Side Café, will sit on a panel discussion about ethical meat eating in the age of E. Coli and factory farming. The event will be held in the Port Commission Hearing Room at the Ferry Building at 6:30 p.m. and is free, with no RSVP required.
