A Peruvian Primer
Slow Food San Francisco members eager for a Peruvian primer might want to consider snagging at ticket for the “Polishing the Peruvian Palate” dinner at La Mar on November 18. Enjoy the five-course meal in the company of chef Rodolfo Reyes, who will demystify the unusual ingredients. Nouveau Beaujolais Arrivé!
Celebrate the annual release of easy drinking Beaujolais at the Grand Café's party on November 19th. You'll be greeted with a glass of the new release 2009 wine, complimentary Burgundian hors d'oeuvres, followed by a three-course set menu ($39, $54 with wine pairings).

Pumpkin Pay Off
Think your pumpkin cheesecake is worthy of note? Got a pumpkin gnocchi recipe you can’t wait to show off? Enter your creation in the pumpkin cookoff contest at Omnivore Books on November 21. The event runs from 4-5 p.m. and tasting and judging is open to the public for a $5 fee—winner takes the pot!
This year instead of thinking about volunteering, why don’t you actually do it? Chef Ryan Scott is looking for volunteers to help him provide, prepare and distribute bag lunches to needy San Franciscans on Thanksgiving day.
