Bob Mould with Shepard Fairey
The musician who stormed the '70s scene with Hüsker Dü now adds author to his running resume. He'll talk with Shepard Fairey (the artist famous for his HOPE Obama portrait) about the book, See A Little Light: The Trail of Rage and Melody, his music career, growing up in a rural farming community, and his long path to coming out during this City Arts & Lectures conversation. Check out our interview with Mould here.

Start building that epic library you've always dreamed of. The 47th Annual Big Book Sale features nearly half a million books, DVDs, CDs, books on tape, vinyl, and more. Grab everything for $4 or less. And on Sunday, everything is $1 or under! Stock is replenished daily, so if you're a book fanatic, make the trip daily.

Comedy
Killing My Lobster Conquers the Galaxy
The award-winning local comic troupe is back with a new sketch all about science fiction. Think The Twilight Zone with a wacky, comic bent. KLM will not disappoint.

Art + Music
Heavy Metal and Quilting
Three local heavy metal bands—Black Cobra, Walken, and Hightower—perform in honor of artist Ben Venom’s heavy metal quilt. There's a DJ and a free photo booth to keep you going between sets. Check out this NPR clip about Ben Venom's quilts here.
When: 6-8 p.m., Thurs. 9/22
Where: Sculpture Court at YBCA, 701 Mission St.

Theater
Once in a Lifetime
A.C.T.'s new season opens with a revival of the 1930 comedy Once in a Lifetime. 15 cast members will take on 70 roles during the course of an evening. The New York Times called it a "delicious Hollywood send up." I have no doubt about it.
When: Thurs. 9/22 – Sun. 10/16
Where: American Conservatory Theater, 415 Geary St.

Music
Bon Iver or Two Door Cinema Club
If you weren't one of the lucky ones to snag Bon Iver tickets in the two seconds before they sold out, you have two options: keep trying Craigslist and pay an arm and a leg for a seat or check out Two Door Cinema Club instead. The electropop rockers from Ireland are young lads with a mature sound that will no doubt have you dancing.
When: Bon Iver — 7 p.m., Thurs. 9/22; Two Door Cinema Club — 8 p.m., Fri. 9/23
Where: The Greek Theatre, Hearst and Gayley, Berkeley; The Warfield, 982 Market St.
