The shortest month of the year is almost over, but there are still a couple of rad events left to make sure February gets done right. Celebrate another year of Noise Pop with the smooth stylings of Dr. Dog, strut your stuff on the red carpet at the Nitey Awards, or bounce around to Girl Talk; whatever your mood, these are the hottest events of the week.
Dr. Dog
This month the Philly-based band who's opened for Wilco, the Raconteurs, and the Lumineers, headlines the ticket on the penultimate day of Noise Pop. Expect a nod to old-school rock 'n’ roll from Dr. Dog's eight album, B-Room, and a concert experience you won't forget anytime soon.

The Nitey Awards
Strut your stuff on the red carpet at the Castro Theatre before taking your seat to find out the winners of the best of the best of San Francisco nightlife. Don't miss out on special hosts Michelle Mewos (Swirl Radio) and Greg Sherrell (of Fernando and Greg in the Morning radio show) and a live performance from all-girl rock group The She’s. After the awards mingle with the stars and dance the night away at the after party at Beaux.

Slow by Design: Food
Unearth the deep roots and fine tastes of the Bay Area’s slow food movement through site visits to local producers, DIY ocean-foraging, and hands-on demonstrations with Headland’s Chef and other food specialists during this weekend workshop. Activities include a fishing and crabbing demonstration along the Marin Headland’s coastline, artisanal bread-baking in a wood-fired oven, and a guided discussion on taste and food selection with Chez Panisse alumna, Samin Nosrat. Yum!

Girl Talk
Celebrating over 10 years of sample-obsessed production and relentless touring, Gregg Gillis returns with All Day, his fifth album as Girl Talk, and his most epic, densely layered, and meticulously composed musical statement to date. Watch him tear up the stage this week and you're guaranteed to spend the whole night dancing.

John Chiara
Bay Area photographer John Chiara painstakingly shoots and hand processes his images using a human-sized field camera, which he lugs around on a flatbed trailer - if that isn't dedication, I don't know what is. Chiara's process may be antiquated, but the result is a body of quiet urban vignettes - from street scenes to scenic vistas - that evoke memories of time and place. This is vintage done right.
Thursday, 3/6 - 4/26 at Haines Gallery
David Kelley
Famous for optimizing the Apple mouse design, IDEO's David Kelley can now add author to his impressive resume. This week, Kelley sits down with Pop-Up Magazine editor in chief Douglas McGray for a talk about the power of creative thinking and his new book, Creative Confidence. Make sure to take notes.
