Three Reasons to Cross the Bay Bridge

Three Reasons to Cross the Bay Bridge

By

There are plenty of ways across the Bay to stay out of the rain and avoid the last-minute Christmas shoppers this weekend. Following are three of our favorites.

Anchor Bodyworks Let massage therapist Morgan Henry work out all those end-of-the-year kinks. A new arrival from Seattle, Henry is already developing an East Bay following thanks to her unique ability to relax the body and mind almost instantly. Henry brings her table and skills to your home, so find an East Bay pal to have a massage party with, or ask nicely and she may just cross the bridge for you.

The New Parkway At long last, the beloved Parkway returns! And yes the couches, pizza, and beer are still there. The theater re-opens Saturday in Oakland's uptown district, on 24th Street, with screenings of the films Looper, Beasts of the Southern Wild, and Pitch Perfect. Sunday brings the launch of the theater's weekly "Thrillville Theater" programming with a screening of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Happy days!

The Video Game Museum Turns One Celebrate The Museum of Art and Digital Entertainment (a.k.a. The MADE, Oakland's video game museum) at its holiday bash/1st birthday. There are many cool things about the MADE but one of the coolest is that all of its exhibits are meant to be played. Come out this weekend to try out the games while enjoying all-you-can drink Guinness, pizza, and a preview of the MADE's upcoming exhibit, "Games You Can Frame," focusing on the pretty pictures in video games.
