5th Annual Supermarket Street Sweep (With Beer from 21st Amendment)
It's that time of year again—time to but out your panniers or giant bags and pedal around the city for the SF Food Bank. Now in its fifth year, the Supermarket Street Sweep sends riders all over San Francisco to shop for groceries that will go to help the Food Bank feed needy families this holiday season. The totals have risen steadily every year, with last year's riders bringing in a whopping 7,507 lbs of food. In addition to the traditional cargo (carry as much as you can) and speed (get to the finish line with the designated groceries as fast as you can), the Sweep's organizers have added a fundraising competition this year, so if you don't want to ride, you can set up an account and raise funds for charity. There are tons of prizes from a bevy or great sponsors, and this year 21st Amendment will provide the beer, so you'll be rewarded delicious beer as well as awesome loot. There will also be a food truck at the end of the race to sate your post-ride appetite. The race begins at noon on Saturday, December 4 at Cupid's Span (the Bow & Arrow) on Embarcadero. Check out the race blog for details.
