Transported: Getting Your (Drunk) Self Home On Halloween

Welcome to "Transported", our new weekly series about getting places in San Francisco, whether you take the bus or the BART, bike or drive. Come here to find the skinny on secret parking spots, the new bike lanes and how to get across town on Muni without losing your mind.

If you're reveling this weekend for Halloween, make sure to get yourself home safe. Here are some options to pre-program into your phone:

Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home, courtesy of Berg Injury Lawyers and Luxor Cab, provides a fleet of cabs to take you anywhere within city limits (they also do rides in Sacramento, Oakland, Alameda and Berkeley) so you don't have to risk a DUI. When you call, just let them know Berg Injury Lawyers is picking up the tab. It's important to note that they'll only take you home, not to another bar! Call (415) 282‐4141 from 10 pm-4 am, and they'll take care of you.

Whether you're a AAA member or not, they'll tow your car up to five miles for free from 6 pm October 31st (in case you like to get started early) until 6 am the next day. Just call them at 1-800-AAA-HELP, utter the words "I need a Tipsy Tow", and you're set for a one-way ride home.

If you're rolling deep this Halloween, gather your crew and rent a party bus, because trust us, you won't be able to find multiple cabs for everyone. Cali Party Bus San Francisco will provide a limo or bus to get the party started. Bring your own music to blast, make friends with your driver, pop a few bottles of champagne and party hop worry-free. Call (415) 692-1465 to set yourself up!

I think this is probably the most important issue when it comes to night life. I just don't understand why people continue to go out and drink when they know they're going to drive home, shows a real sign of immaturity and the lack of brains considering you're putting innocent people at risk.

In response to the comment made by J about the St. Patty's ride:

I assisted with the coordination of the Safe and Sober program, and I'm sorry to hear you had trouble. Please know, if this happens again to you or a friend, get the name of the cab driver and report him to Luxor Cab. There is NO NEED for a voucher to use this program, and this had nothing to do with the law firm.

You can reach me at abbey@safeandsoberride.com. I will do everything I can to make sure you are able to use the program as described above.

Thanks!

Yeah I've been screwed by the Berg guys before on Saint Patty's Day. Called the supposed Luxor cab... took them forever to come. By the time they came, we told the driver we were doing the free ride by Berg Injury Lawyers... and he told us he wouldn't accept that. He needed a voucher, otherwise he doesn't get paid. AKA, Berg Lawyers are a bunch of crooks. We ended up taking it bc we had to get home, and paying way too much. Liars and crooks.
