Valentine's Day Hotel Guide: Swoon-worthy Deals

Now that it's officially February, it's well within reason for you to freak out over Valentine's Day--or rather, lack thereof--plans. Forgot to set something up for that special someone? You're in luck: The following hotels are offering swoon-worthy packages that will no doubt propel you into the Romantics' Hall of Fame in her mind.


"Spin, Whip & Sprinkle," all Personality Hotels, San Francisco

Personality Hotels--comprising Hotel Diva, Hotel Frank, Hotel Union Square, Hotel Vertigo, Kensington Park Hotel and Hotel Metropolis--is getting racy this Valentine's Day season. Added to your night's stay is a JIMMYJANE'S adult version of Spin the Bottle, a bottle of sparkling wine, and whip cream and rainbow sprinkles (we'll let you use your imagination on that one). "Made for Romance," L'Auberge, Carmel

There's one thing executive chef Christophe Grosjean does particularly well, and that's whip up an aphrodisical evening at his top-notch Aubergine restaurant, housed in Carmel's most elegant stay, L'Auberge. The "Made for Romance" deal includes one of two prix fixe menu options ($125 per person for a five-course menu, or $220 with wine pairings; or an eight-course meal for $150 per person, or $260 with wine pairings), a night in a queen guest room, welcome split of champagne, daily European-style breakfast for two and nightly turndown service with a sweet treat.

"Be Mine This Valentine's," Milliken Creek Inn & Spa, Napa

Milliken Creek Inn & Spa is peacefully situated at the river's edge, making it one of the best places for a romantic interlude. And just in time for the pending holiday, it has upped the ante with the "Be Mine This Valentine's" starting at $800 midweek per couple for a two-night stay in a Milliken Room. This deal also includes a hydrating 90-minute Chocolate Decadence Massage per person, a turndown of chocolate-covered strawberries, a bottle of chilled champagne, a plethora of lit votive candles scattered throughout the room and gourmet breakfast for two served en-suite. "Love is in the Air," Mandarin Oriental, San Francisco

For just $415, you can land the "Love is in the Air" special, which includes a half bottle of  Veuve Cliquot Yellow Label Champagne, a half dozen chocolate-covered strawberries, rose petals adorning the bed at evening turndown and a room upgrade to the next category at the time of booking (based on availability and not applicable to suites). The offer is available throughout 2010 including Valentine's Day weekend, with a minimum two-night stay. Those staying over the actual holiday weekend may be interested in dining at the hotel restaurant, where the chef is whipping up a special five-course prix fixe menu with such items as tandoori Sonoma quail with cucumber spaghetti, mint raita, toasted pine nuts; celeriac veloute; sweet butter poached maine lobster; slow roasted rib-eye with pan-fried foie gras, chanterelles, glazed baby carrots, potato confit; California cheese plate; raspberry mille feuille with Champagne sorbet. "Amour Romance," Hyatt at Fisherman's Wharf, San Francisco

For more traditional couples, the "Amour Romance" sets the stage for romance. Starting at only $189, the package includes one night's accommodations for two; full American breakfast for two (room service or in Knuckles); bottle of champagne; chocolate-covered strawberries; and late check out to 2:00 pm on request. Since true romantics can celebrate their love at any time of year, this option is available from now through the December 30, 2010. "Spa, Jewels & Romance," Rosewood Sand Hill, Menlo Park

Those who really want to impress (read: have the deep pockets to do so) might consider the ultimate in Valentine's Day getaways.
