Live in the Vineyards and the VH1 Save the Music Foundation Kick Off a Special Charity Event Featuring Eric Hutchinson
Every year, Live in the Vineyard brings one of the best parties to Napa. It's an intimate weekend that combines, tastemakers from around the country, exquisite music, wine and food. This year, we're excited to help announce that they're kicking things off with a special charity night benefiting the 15th Anniversary of the VH1 Save the Music Foundation at Raymond Vineyards in St. Helena.
To help quality music education for both kids and adults alive in this city, put your hand together for the Blue Bear School of Music's 40th Anniversary Benefit Concert, featuring a very special performance by the inimitable Jackie Greene at Bimbo's 365 Club on Thursday, March 22. As always, accomplished, upstart Blue Bear School bands will open the night with their own performances to show the world how far they've come.
You can enter to win a pair of general admission tickets!
At the San Francisco Symphony's Davies After Hours party, you can have the best of both worlds. On March 16, after refining your palate with the American Mavericks performance of Mason Bates’ new SFS commission, Mass Transmission, give a nod to SF's thriving electronic scene as Bates transforms the night into a bumping party as DJ Masonic, with his pals David Arend on upright bass, Aaron Kahn on trumpet and Gloria Justen on electric violin.
Back in the fall, Christina Cabrera took home the biggest honor in her career - capturing First Place with her Autumn Rose Cocktail in the Four Roses Bourbon Cocktail Competition in conjunction with the San Francisco Chapter of the USBG. The way she tells it: "To win against nine boys is incredible and I felt like I proved the ladies can do it".
Drambuie, the spicy Scottish liqueur that's been tickling tongues since 1745, is on the hunt for the bartender with the brains and the skills to work cocktail magic. What kind of cocktail magic, you ask? The kind that demands your expert judgment this March 19 and 20 during their Nail Or Fail Bartender Showdown.
Out of all the things that come together for a marriage, the most enduring and iconic symbols of the love you share with someone else are the wedding and engagement rings you slip on each others' fingers. But with so many options out there, it's difficult choosing the perfect one. With over 125 vendors, The San Francisco Giftcenter & Jewelrymart has the low-down on how to select the best high-quality diamonds from the largest selection in the Bay Area.
Along with the revamped Parallel 37 inside The Ritz-Carlton, the hotel has also painstakingly remodeled the Lounge, which just opened after a six-week renovation. Its former traditional antique furnishings have been transformed into a much more modern ambiance, making it a perfect space to kick back and relax, with a drink in hand.
Whether it's whiskey or whisky, it's being poured by the gallon this year at the Whiskies of the World Expo on March 31st. Hop aboard the San Francisco Belle (don't worry, it'll be docked the entire time) for three ballroom-sized decks of tasting booths of whiskies from around the globe and whiskey/whisky gurus galore to tell you everything you ever wanted to know about this complex spirit. We give you permission to lick your chops.
Calling all shutterbugs! This week’s NightLife is all about the art and science of photography. "Color me happy!" That's the message for spring, with mix-and-match brights
in a rainbow of season-perfect colors (think cool blue, vivid orange and
hot fuchsia). LOFT's must-have spring pieces get an extra dose of style with
vibrant patterns, from exotic florals and nautical stripes and playful polka dots.
Want to make the look your own? Try mixing cool and warm hues—pair a turquoise floral blouse with lovely yellow pants. Or, go for a range of colors (and showcase your sunny side) in a dramatic color-block shift. And you can always get graphic with a dotted black-and-white swing dress.
