Living in the Bay Area, we're lucky to be free of major winter storms right now (we feel for you, East Coast), but that doesn't negate the need for a spring break getaway, especially with accomodations that are on the house. To that end, we've teamed up with the newly renovated Park Shore Waikiki to host you and a guest for five nights, compliments of Aqua Hotels and Resorts!
February, the month of groundhogs, Mardi Gras, and romance (at least theoretically). It's also a great month to get a massage, whether it be to pamper those sore muscles from January's resolutions or to get your blood moving after a month of sloth.
It's officially gala season, folks. And this year, the Bay Area will come together for a major bash honoring living masterpieces. The 2015 Pacific Orchid Exposition is coming to Fort Mason starting February 19. The orchid extravaganza will kick off with a gala fundraiser chock-full of entertainment, celeb appearances, light bites, wine tasting (featuring winners of the SF Chronicle's wine competition), and a silent auction boasting the crème de la crème of local products and experiences—green thumb optional.
In our foodie city, San Franciscans are accustomed to waiting in line for the best eats and making reservations nearly a year in advance at some of the top joints. Even then, high-demand nights like Valentine's Day are a roll of the dice—trick dice, with odds most definitely not in your favor. But one game-changing app, Table8, is ready to whisk you and your date away to a killer table at one of the top restaurants in the Bay Area—no planning necessary.
For the 25th year in a row, Silicon Valley will unplug from their hand-held electronics and turn to the big screen for Cinequest Film Festival: Silicon Valley. This year's event includes the premiere of nearly 100 international and U.S. flicks, top film artists and tech innovators, the Maverick Spirit Awards (with Rosario Dawson and noted director John Boorman), and the new Future of Film Showcase. Add these four must-attend events to your calendar, and get in touch with your inner cinephile.
San Francisco Restaurant Week is nearly upon us. To celebrate, Stock in Trade, the happy hour hot spot beloved by bocce ballers, is rolling out a seriously hearty tasting menu. Dinner will include an amuse bouche of bacon caramel popcorn, three courses (yes, three!), and an adult beverage as the bourbon-cherry on top. It's delicious dining, zero pretension.
Even though Giants season is several long months away, AT&T Park will swing back into action next month with the much-anticipated annual Hearts After Dark fundraiser. Every year, over 1,000 philanthropically-minded young professionals flock to the annual fete for an evening of cocktails, dancing, and general revelry, all in support of the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation.
Welcome to the Kitty Personals, where eager furry friends put their hearts on the line while they seek their perfect human match. Each month, we'll spotlight a highly adoptable dog or cat that is currently available at the San Francisco SPCA. Read their stories, fall in love, and go adopt! Today, feast your eyes on this little sweetie, Muffin.
Unfortunately, due to the rainy forecast, the SF SPCA has been forced to cancel the Be Mine cocktail party on Friday, February 6th. Although they're thrilled that San Francisco is finally getting some much needed rain, the timing couldn't have been worse for an outdoor party. Thank you to everyone who planned on attending.
