Banana Republic: Mad About Style

In anticipation of AMC’s fifth season of Mad Men®, Banana Republic launched their limited edition Mad Men Collection with a swanky soiree at the flagship San Francisco Grant Avenue location on August 11. As guests walked in on the glamorous red carpet, they enjoyed delicious appetizers by LRE Catering, took pictures in the vintage photo booth, and put themselves in Mad Men scenes with the magic of Yoostar 2 and Kinect for Xbox 360. SenSpa specialists pampered guests by providing complimentary makeovers, gift bags, and raffle prizes while DJ Niall Stevenson played Mad Men-era music to enhance the atmosphere.

San Francisco Fall Antiques Show: Jackson Square Preview

On June 15, the oldest continuously operating international antiques show on the West Coast welcomed guests into six San Francisco Fall Antiques Show (SFFAS) Jackson Square galleries to explore the unique pieces on display. The gallery art dealers treated attendees to mini-lectures followed by a lovely wine reception hosted by Daniel Stein Antiques.

The San Francisco Fall Antiques Show will be held October 27 - October 30, 2011, at Fort Mason's Festival Pavilion.

Fog & Laser at Rickshaw Stop

On July 23, DJ duo Fog & Laser went all out at the Rickshaw Stop, filling the venue with indie, electric beats and creating a laser and fog-infused dance party. Indie distillers, Root & Snap, provided one-of-a-kind drink specials to compliment the anomalous atmosphere. Snazzy portrait photobooth-style shots complimented with hilarious props such as a blowup dolphin and sailor hats was the hit of the night, drawing guests to get their chance to express their individuality. On June 18, the Spinsters of San Francisco held their 82nd Annual Ball, a members only black tie gala, in the Swig Suite penthouse of The Fairmont San Francisco. The event marks the turnover of the Spinsters calendar year and the transition of outgoing leadership to the newly elected board.

ENCORE! Closing Night Party at Otis

On May 25, ENCORE!, San Francisco's young professionals premier social and education group focused on ballet, celebrated the close of the 2011 ballet season at Otis Lounge on Maiden Lane. The association creates social and educational opportunities and events for young Bay Area citizens by sharing the unique experience of the San Francisco Ballet with them. Otis attendees looked back at the capstones of 2011 and excitedly conversed about the upcoming performances for the 2012 season while sipping on delectable libations from Brugal Rum, Hendrick’s Gin, and ROOT.

Asia Society Northern California Honors Pioneers at Sold-Out Annual Gala

In celebration of innovative leadership and national Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, Asia Society Northern California (ASNC) saluted YouTube co-founder Steve Chen, venture capitalist Naren Gupta, and the SF Heb B Free campaign at its eighth annual dinner gala on May 5 at the Four Seasons San Francisco. Mayor Ed Lee delivered the keynote address at the sold-out even, which was attended by over 400 leaders in the business, policy, academia, and the diplomatic community from the Bay Area and beyond.

Mary McDonald Signing at Gumps

On May 4, San Francisco met celebrity interior designer Mary McDonald (Bravo's Million Dollar Decorators) at Gump's on Maiden Lane as she presented her new lighting collection and signed copies of her new book Mary McDonald: Interiors, The Allure of Style. McDonald's style combines old-fashioned elegance with a modern sensibility that results in a fearless, joyful exuberance. Her ability to combine bold patterns, Chinoiserie, and Indian influences with contemporary lines and an impeccable sense of color has established her style as one of a kind.

Decks on Deck

On May 20, the Leukemia Lymphoma Society of San Francisco hosted the sold-out event "Decks on Deck", a benefit aboard the 7 million dollar, 4.5 story flagship vessel Cabernet Sauvignon, which supported San Francisco Giants colleague Patrick Landers who is fighting Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. While celebrity DJ Mix Master Mike spun records all night long, guests enjoyed drinks, dancing, and games all in the name of charitable revelry. The annual event's goal is to generate funds for a specific individual battling a form of this devastating disease and for the San Francisco chapter of the Leukemia Lymphoma Society.

UCSF Infusion Group at Cinta Salon Summer Bash

Infusion is the new young professionals group which is a part of UCSF Partners in Care, the new auxiliary that raises funds for patients and their families being treated throughout all locations of UCSF Medical Center and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital.

On June 3rd, Infusion held a group event at the luxurious Cinta Salon on Grant Avenue near San Francisco's Union Square. Members and prospective members were treated to complimentary treatments while enjoying champagne, hors d'oeuvres and cupcakes.

Merola Opera Gala

The Merola Opera Program, the prestigious opera training program associated with the San Francisco Opera, held its annual Spring Benefit on Saturday April 30 at the St. Regis San Francisco.  The evening began with a silent auction featuring fine wines and a number of unique dining and entertainment experiences. While they bid, guests were invited to indulge in a variety of culinary delights and cocktails, particularly a signature cocktail provided by Domaine Chandon.  After the auction, the San Francisco Opera Adler fellows, all of whom are alumni of the Merola Opera Program, entertained guests in the ballroom.  A lush dessert reception followed the concert and allowed guests to mingle with the Adler Fellows.
