And with the paucity of powder -- more than six weeks and counting -- and the endless sunshiny days, many outdoor enthusiasts are eschewing their skis and snowboards and snowshoes for toys more typically seen in the summer.
Despite the worst snowpack in decades, Tahoe resorts are still offering plenty of open trails and man-made fluff for beginners to practice and perfect their turns (or snowplows) and, even better, to do so at ridiculously reduced rates.
