Bay Area 'Power Couples': Craig & Annie Stoll

It's hard to start a business in the Bay Area. And even harder to make it successful. We're inspired by the couples who have done it together and have decided to highlight them every week in our new "Bay Area Power Couples" blog series. Check back on Fridays for Q&A's with the couples who run some of our favorite local businesses.

Last week we sat down with Matt & Lena Reynoso of the Compound Gallery and this week we chat with Craig and Annie Stoll of Delfina and Pizzeria Delfina.

Kings of Leon, Gogol Bordello Anticipate Wine Teeth at Outside Lands

We just got off an Outside Lands press conference call with Kings of Leon singer Nathan Followill, Eugene Hutz of Gogol Bordello and Scott Youklis, head chef at Maverick. They're just excited as we are to eat our hearts out and listen to the good tunes coming our way August 14th and 15th.

Fight or Be Recycled at This Year's Boxwars Battle

Two years ago, a strange phenomenon called Boxwars invaded Dolores Park like a small Roman Army high on LSD. A group of cardboard-clad warriors with all manner of taped-together cardboard weapons swung and stabbed at eachother until one champion was left standing.

Last Chance to Experience Historic Transbay Terminal This Friday

Tomorrow is the last day the public can take tours of the historic Transbay Terminal building before it gets demolished and a new "Grand Central Station-West" structure gets erected in its place. Tours will be given once an hour from 12-4 pm.

Just Like Heaven? Beer and Artisan Cheese Pairing at Social Kitchen & Brewery Tonight

The Inner Sunset's Social Kitchen & Brewery has been catching our attention a lot lately. We highlighted them in our discussion of the cicerone (beer sommelier) trend, and then were extremely excited to hear that they're starting the weeks off right with German beer nights (Mondays are dedicated to Kolsch and Tuesdays to Dusseldorf).

Dog Social Hours: Where Dogs Can Hang Out with Dog Friends

San Francisco's obsessed with dogs. If you're lucky enough to own one, you know how important it is for pups to be able to hang out with other pups without things getting weird. Play dates aside, here are some doggie social hours worth both you and your dog's time.

String Ensemble Performs Depeche Mode's Violator Album Tonight @ Cafe Du Nord

Twenty years ago, were you a club kid dancing your nights away to Depeche Mode's awesome synthpop classic Violator? No doubt you've mellowed a bit since then, which is why this re-imagining of Violator is particularly brilliant: the Jack Curtis Dubowsky Ensemble and strings will perform the entire album from start to finish, completely live at Cafe Du Nord tonight for Violator's 20th anniversary. So go back to a time before you were all grown up, had a big scary job and bills to pay, because you have some re-living of your teenage years to do.

Where to Eat and Drink Before A Show at the Fox

Oakland's Fox Theater has a concert calendar that sometimes seems like it was booked by the music gods themselves (this fall's lineup includes the xx, The Black Keys and the Flaming Lips, to name a few). But what's out there for pre-show grub and drinks? Here's a guide to the best to be had in the 'hood before a show:

Sip the Spirit of Summer: A Guide to Gin

Gin is light on the tongue and can be mixed with the freshest, most summery ingredients. It's the quintessential spirit of summer. From a Tom Collins to the classic gin & tonic, it can take on almost any flavor you like. First Drink and Bite: The Sycamore

The Sycamore, the city's newest beer-and-bar-bites spot, calls itself "Your Favorite New Bar in the Mission." Based on its 15 five-star-perfect Yelp reviews, that statement might just be correct.
