Broadway star and Tony nominee Cheyenne Jackson has been making a name for himself lately in film and television, appearing on 30 Rock, Glee, and most recently making a prominent cameo in HBO's Liberace exposé, Behind the Candelabra. Next week he'll be in San Francisco to perform with the San Francisco Symphony in their concert version of West Side Story, and he'll also be serving as a Grand Marshal in the LGBT Pride Parade on June 30, and celebrating the release of his first solo album, I'm Blue, Skies, on June 25. 7x7 talked with him by phone from L.A. about his music career, the current state of Broadway, and a few TV pilots that went nowhere.
The season is winding down at the American Conservatory Theater, with its productions of Arcadia and Black Watch both set to close this weekend; and at the Magic Theatre, where the American premiere of Mark O'Rowe's Terminus closes Sunday as well. But across the Bay there is still stuff happening at Berkeley Rep and CalShakes, with the latter having just kicked off its summer season last week, and a small S.F. company is doing Sondheim's great fairy tale mashup, Into the Woods.
In this week's food news, we have the opening of a new bar/restaurant in the TenderNob, some movement at the vacant Bar Bambino space on 16th, and the debut of A16's East Bay spinoff.
Here's an update on some of the big food news that dropped this week, including a local star chef who's headed for the small screen.

I had a moment of discovery while researching the piece about sour beer that I wrote for the May issue of 7x7 that is probably worth mentioning. I was familiar with the genre before, but I quickly figured out that this wasn't the kind of trend — like rosé wine or rye whiskey -— that was likely to appeal to a wide range of drinkers.
