For this week’s Scenes of the City, Burning Man cofounder John Law, who referred to himself as the "Quasimodo” of the Tribune Tower, takes us to the top of downtown Oakland's 305-foot Tribune Tower, which is steeped in history and mystery.
For this week's Escape from SF, we headed east of the Bay toward Mount Diablo (reaching almost 4,000 feet!) to Rock City in Mount Diablo State Park. If you didn't get enough flowers on Valentine's Day, this is a great time of year to see the wildflowers in bloom. Also, you can explore Rock City's noted sandstone formations carved by wind, rain, and time.
For this week's Scenes of the City, we decided to check out some of the more stunning architectural gems of downtown San Francisco. So, we toured the FiDi and took in buildings, young and old.
Heading to the Unknown Coast in Point Reyes National Seashore, we made our way over to Elephant Sea Cave—a short but slow and difficult scramble south of rocky McClures Beach—named after nearby Elephant Rock, shaped like, well, an elephant.
