The great thing about dressing patriotic in America is that our colors go so well together. Chances are, you already have loads of red, white and blue in your wardrobe -- just be careful not to look like a walking flag this Monday. Instead, try mixing textures and adding neutral colors to create a more modern Independence Day outfit.
We all know that getting that perfect mix of high/low is tougher than it looks. Which is exactly why 95 trusted international fashion bloggers, led by Jane Aldridge (Sea of Shoes), created the book Style Yourself: Inspired Advice from the World’s Top Fashion Bloggers, which hits shelves July 1. Published by local house Weldon Owen, the book features several of our local style bloggers, including Dyanna Pure (The SF Style), and SF turned NYC blogging sensation, Jannine Jacob (The Coveted).
SF Street Style: Breezy Colors, the Marc by Marc Jacobs It Bag, Denim Done Right + Cork Pumps on Yerba Buena Lane
I photographed Christine Tusher, SF editor for TheRundown.com, after our fun lunch at Bluestem Brasserie, on Yerba Buena Lane. It makes me so happy to see people flash their bright colors when the sun's out in SF. The cheerful color combo, paired with the sheer, flowiness of this top made Christine's casual denim day look really stand out again the business-casual downtown lunch crowd.
This Week in Fashion: Pride Party at SuiGeneris, Millinery Trunk Show at Fiat Lux, Pret-A-Porter Fashion Show + Killer Sales
1. Pride in Style at SuiGeneris (2265 Market St.), Saturday June 25, 12pm-5pm.
Celebrate Pride at SuiGeneris's shopping, mingling and champagne Pride soiree. The consignment boutique is conveniently located in the Castro, and DJ Stanley Frank (Viennatta Discotheque) and Jason Kendig will be spinning all night. P.S. Don't forget to enter the raffle for two Rickshaw Bagworks Juanita More market messenger bags -- score.
2. Sundays at Church with Jasmin Zorlu + Elwyn Crawford at Fiat Lux (218 Church St.), Sunday June 26, 3pm-7pm.
Every last Sunday of the month, Fiat Lux celebrates a Bay Area designer with a mega trunk show, and 10% off. This month it's millinery madness with local hat heroines, Jasmin Zorlu and Elwyn Crawford. Stop by the boutique, grab a cup of chilled sangria, say hello to the designers, and treat yourself to a new headpiece for SF Pride.
Whether you're attending a vintage-themed DIY garden wedding or a royal-esque affair at Grace Cathedral, just remember: no white! It's the bride's day to wear white and truly stand out, so let her.
There were so many great casual looks at Off The Grid Ft. Mason, that it was hard to shoot just one person. In fact, I ended up finding a very stylish Madrid-turned-SF trio: Silvia, a Language Specialist at eBay, looking cute in her blue and yellow; little Leah, 18-months-old, with fantastic hair; Markus, head of SEO at Yahoo!, talk about a swoony dad.
SF Street Style: A Thrifted Leather Jacket, Killer Light Blue Balenciaga Bag + Summer Cut-out Oxfords at Off The Grid
Here's Linna Trinh, looking fabulous at Off The Grid, Fort Mason. Bay Area summer's are all about layering, and this look hits all the right lengths. Linna's ultra-cool, cream leather jacket has such a great cut, and a nice, relaxed fit. I couldn't believe she found it at a thrift store -- talk about a major score! It just goes to show, you can mix designer pieces (check out Linna's Balenciaga bag below) with thrift store finds, to make a composed, down-to-Earth look.
This Week in Fashion: Eric Dane at Kiehl's Grand Opening, Heliotrope Celebrates 1 Year, Custom Suiting from PDX + Mad Summer Sales

2. Kiehl's Grand Opening Party & Fashion Benefit with Eric Dane at Kiehl's (971 Fillmore St.), Saturday June 18, 12:30pm - 1:30pm.
Dr. McSteamy himself, Eric Dane, a SF native, and his wife, actress Rebecca Gayheart, will host the Kiehl's Since 1851 Fillmore St. store opening this Saturday. Kiehl's US President, Chris Salgrado, will arrive to this already hot photo-op via motorcycle, accompanied by a hardcore pack of SF bikers, naturally. In honor of Dane and the store launch, Kiehl's is donating $10,000 to the Homeless Prenatal Program, a local charity working to beat childhood poverty. Bonus: the first 160 people (get there early!) will receive a free Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cleanser. And if you're a true last-minute gifter, stock up on some Facial Fuel for dear ol' dad.
