Most of us are like bacon this, brisket that, but unlike the majority of SF, Sasha Wizansky actually walks-the-walk of meat loving. So much so that this writer and artist co-founded the print magazine meatpaper in 2007 and is now its Editor-in-Chief and Creative Director. In addition to being totally badass (it's a magazine about MEAT), meatpaper is a combination of strong editorial, incredible design and beautiful art, and is beloved in both the design and foodie communities.
And just like her mag, Sasha is about as artsy-hip as they come. She's a Mission lifer, burrito enthusiast, and a total inspiration, making her a no-brainer We Wanna Be Friends With Q&A interviewee!
1. What neighborhood do you currently call home? Would you ever move or are you happy in your 'hood?
I have called the Mission home for 17 years and I still love the liveliness and walkability. I also have a soft spot for Bernal Heights; it's a little village within the City.
2. What's your hands-down, absolute favorite thing to eat in SF?
The omakase at ICHI Sushi is like a procession of little jewels.
3. What's your perfect night on the town?
My definition of nightlife varies quite a bit. Lately I've been enjoying drinks at various dives along the Bay waterfront, like the Ramp. There are so few waterfront bars and restaurants, it's easy to forget that San Francisco is surrounded by water. If I'm downtown, an evening walk up the Filbert Steps and through the back streets of North Beach is always enchanting. If it's a restaurant night, Bar Tartine and State Bird Provisions are truly special.
4. When you need a low-key afternoon, where do you go for down time?
I love an afternoon biking through Golden Gate Park to the Great Highway, and then zipping over to Trouble Coffee or Outerlands on Judah. A cup of coffee on the beach = instant picnic.
5. What's your favorite place to go on a day trip from the city?
I spend a lot of time in Point Reyes. A perfect day includes Cowgirl Creamery in Point Reyes Station, picnicking on the Point Reyes beaches, and visiting the oyster farms on Tomales Bay.

I prefer biking to Muni, but I enjoy walking across town most of all.

Ocean Beach is an under-appreciated gem.

Only three? Coffee, picnic, friends (not in order of importance)!
