Aussie Couple Combines Rustic and Glam for Tahoe Wedding

Aussie Couple Combines Rustic and Glam for Tahoe Wedding

By

Zac and Alison first met at work in Sydney, Australia in 2009 but didn't go on an official date until a year later. That winter Alison was off to the United States to spend Christmas with her family, and Zac was headed to Chicago for work. They quickly re-arranged their flights so that they could spend a week together in California, at Alison's parents’ house in Lake Tahoe.

A couple years later, in 2012, the couple was packing for a weekend trip to Uluru, when Zac surprised Alison by proposing. As they began planning their big day, Tahoe was the first choice. They wanted to share the stunning locale with all of their Australian family and friends, and have a holiday destination for everyone traveling from all over the world (people travelled in from 8 different countries!).

Alison's dad suggested West Shore Café as a venue long before she was engaged and the couple fell in love with it. Planning a wedding from 8,000 miles away was an adventure on its own, but luckily Alison's family was in California to help. To highlight the gorgeous venue and amazing back drop, Alison wanted to keep the colors simple and fairly neutral – using all whites and gold – but still have a bit of rustic glam. The bridesmaids dresses were the only splash of color – a beautiful emerald green that ended up looking fantastic with the lake as a background.
