Wedding Inspiration: These Gals Know How to Get Hitched

By

Despite currently living in Massachusetts, Beth and Miriam decided to tie the knot in the Bay Area where their love began — whether or not the law was on their side. It turns out they were just in time and the two legally danced down the aisle beneath the redwoods of Ralston White Retreat in Mill Valley.

The sweetest moment of the day came when Beth's father gave his speech at dinner. He explained to the room that he has long considered Miriam his daughter, but that there's something especially powerful about being able to say she's his daughter-IN-LAW! He held up the previous day's newspaper showing off the headline (editor's note: same-sex marriage was legalized in 2012) and the room burst into cheers and applause. The entire day was filled with overwhelming love and support.

Beth's father created succulent table arrangements and her mother baked cookies for each guest. Miriam's mother hand-stitched the chuppah and her father collected antique bells for guests to ring in their wedded bliss. Everyone pitched in to make the weekend a unique celebration of love and community.
