SHOW YOUR EAST BAY PRIDE 

What: Melissa Davis, author of This is Oakland, and photographer Kristen Loken are hosting a book signing, reception, and photo contest at Lake Chalet on Lake Merritt as part of the annual event to show off your Oakland pride. 
Why: Gondola tours! Plus, you'll see all the amazing photo submissions highlighting the best of the Town. (Submit your pic by Monday, August 31 here

HEAD TO PUNK ROCK HEAVEN 

What: Punk rock heavyweights Bad Religion, the Offspring, and Pennywise are teaming up for an all-day show in Mountain View. 
Why: For the first time ever, The Offspring will be performing their seminal album “Smash” in its entirety, and Pennywise original lead singer Jim Lindberg will be fronting the band after a four-year hiatus. 
When: Sunday, August 31: 3:30pm, $42, Get tickets here.

WATCH ROBIN WILLIAMS' MOVIES ALL DAY

What: Saturday double features of Good Will Hunting and Dead Poets Society on September 7 and The Fisher King and Good Morning Vietnam on September 14. 
Why: Beause you're sick of Netflx, and you can't stream Dead Poets Society anyway.

GET IN FOR FREE

What: Make this the month you finally take advantage of free admission day! Take your pick from the de Young, Jewish Contemporary, YBCA, and more, or at least stop by the Cafes for some art-inspired lunch. 
Why: When was the last time you visited one of SF's amazing art collections? 
When: Tuesday, September 2: all day 
Where: Various museums around town 

FIND VINTAGE TREASURES 

What: Take your chances at the monthly open-air flea market showcasing hundreds of local vendors and gourmet food trucks.
Why: You might just find that rare vinyl you've been searching for, or something you never knew you needed.
