With all the food, style, and nip happening this weekend—how will we ever fit it into just two days?
What: It’s International “Go Topless” Day, a celebration and protest demanding equal topless rights for all, started by a hedonistic UFO religious group called the Raelians. Because really, why is it okay for men, but not for women, to be topless wherever and whenever? Do you dare to go bare? Even with the nudity ban in place, being topless is not illegal in San Francisco.
When: Get your boob and man-boob fill August 23.
Where: At (of course) Dolores Park at 2pm.
STYLE ON A DIME
What: Etsy comes to life with over 30 local artisans in the spacious courtyard of All Good Pizza in the Bayview. Come out, shop local, and eat delicious pizza (for purchase) from 11am to 5pm on Sunday, August 23. Amelia from GoGo Craft will host a free DIY Bow Tie Workshop.
When: You'll want to be there August 23rd - It's an all day occasion.
Where: All Good Pizza at 1605 Jerrold Ave.
RELIVE THE FANGIRLS AND BOWL CUTS
What: Take a sad song and make it better as The Beatles Choir brings cheer to the residents and staff of Laguna Honda Hospital through the timeless songs of the Fab Four. Beatles Choir members of all ages are welcome to come join in the songs and be a part of the event. Come dressed in a black shirt and join Beatles Choir directors, Matt Ridenour and Christie Chew in the Laguna Honda lobby at 9:30am to rehearse before touring around the hospital.
When: Saturday, August 22 at 9:30am.
Where: Laguna Honda Hospital at 375 Laguna Honda Blvd.
ALL THE NOMS
What: Experience the signature Grand Tasting event at Fort Mason on Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, or Saturday evening with tastings from 30+ top restaurants at each event; more than 70 different beer, wine, and cocktails; demonstrations by celebrity chefs; wine classes taught by the San Francisco Wine School; a cheesemonger cave; lawn games in our Backyard Bites area and more.
When: Don't worry, it's an all weekend affair starting at 7:30pm.
Where: Fort Mason Plaza at Marina Blvd. and Buchanan St.
TOO CUTE TO PASS UP
What: The truck will be selling Hello Kitty cakes, donuts, macarons and other sweets, all adorned with Hello Kitty’s cute little face in icing. The truck was an enormous success at the last Cherry Blossom Festival, so if you missed it, now is your chance to go ga-ga for Hello Kitty.
When: Catch the cuteness on August 22.
Where: Santana Row in San Jose at 10am.
A BARREL OF LAUGHS
What: Your real, honest relationship stories will be grist for the comedy mill this weekend. EndGames Improv takes what you give them—the heartbreak, disfunction, and crying— and helps your achieve catharsis.
When: Catch the improv on August 21.
Where: 446 Valencia Street at 10:30pm.
