Kill Bill With Beer

Calicraft x Kabuki Cinema

What: Prepare yourself for the best kind of movie night: The Kabuki theater is hosting special viewing of Kill Bill Volume One including beer pairings. Watch Uma Thurman strut her stuff while sampling exclusive Calicraft Beers and elevated theater snack staples. Round it all off by trying out a brand new ice cream flavor created by Humphry Slocombe specifically for the occasion. The event is 21+ only, so leave the kids at home. Tickets are $54 and are all inclusive.

Eat Your Way Through San Francisco

San Francisco Restaurant Week

What: Every January, restaurants around San Francisco come together to give its citizens the opportunity to gorge themselves o delicious food at a reduced fee, all while supporting local community organizations. While many restaurants are participating, the best deal of the year belongs to Les Clos, where a three course meal comes at a reasonable $40 (saving you $11), and also includes complimentary wine parings. Score!

Psst! Oakland Restaurant Week is also happening, from January 14th - January 24th. Stop by Hopscotch, Juhu Beach Club, or Penrose before it's too late.

1960's Revisited

What: The California Historical Society is presenting a three-day arts festival called "The 1960's Revisited: A 50th Anniversary Celebration" discussing the cultural impact that several 1966 events have had on our modern world. Public events include: The Halprin Workshops, 1966 - 1971, which highlights original documents from architect Lawrence Halprin (Ghirardelli Square) and Anna Halprin (San Francisco Dancer's Workshop); Looking Back: The Dawn of the Grateful Dead, a panel discussion about the early days of iconic band; The Music, Technology & Significance of The Trips Festival, a technology symposium about the emerging computer era and the effect The Trips Festival had on it; A VIP reception with Stewart Brand, founder of The Trips Festival; and the Independent Psychedelic Film Festival, a screening of three period films.

When: January 21st - January 23rd.

From New Age to New Wave

This Ain't No Disco

What: The Elbo Room may be closing its doors soon, but you can still relive the 80s one last time this Saturday night. (Flash)dance to performances by DJs Special Lord B from Soul Party, Kirk Harper from Sweater Funk, and Troy Cook of New Wave Hookers, and bid farewell to a San Francisco staple. Tickets are available for purchase the day of, at just $5 a piece.

The Simpsons Trivia Night

What: A trivia night dedicated to our favorite dysfunctional family? Count us in. For the last two years, this Sunday night monthly happy hour has proved wildly successful, providing a fun atmosphere to have a beer (preferably Duff) and show just how much knowledge we've all accumulated while tuning in for the last 27 years. Alternatively, sit back and watch The Simpsons on the big screen provided!

When: January 24th, 6pm

Gallery Opening

New Exhibition

What: San Francisco Arts Commission's newest exhibition space is about to be unveiled! See the work of 13 local artists and explore the War Memorial Veterans Building at the same time. The work of the Bay Area's very own Susan O'Malley will be front and center. The perfect way to soak up some culture this weekend.
