Welcome to Ticket Tuesdays, a new weekly chance for you to score entry to some of the hottest shows and events in the Bay Area.
If you were as obsessed with legendary illustrator Edward Gorey's macabre books as we were when we were kids, you know that heading to the thirteenth annual 2013 Edwardian Ball at the Regency Ballroom this weekend on January 18 and 19 is a no-brainer. Presented by Paradox Media and Vau de Vire, it's an elegant and whimsical two-day extravaganza of costumery, carnival, music, acrobatics, ballroom dancing and fashion; it's an outrageous celebration of an unforgettable era while honoring Edward Gorey, the prolific master of ominous storytelling.
Tickets are $30-85, but we can help you and a friend get in for free on Friday. Friday night is The Edwardian World’s Faire–a little more rambunctious than the Saturday night Ball, The Faire presents an authentic tea parlor and an interactive night of Barbary-themed Midway Games, bicycle-powered carnival rides by Cyclecide, an exposition of steam-powered machinery by Kinetic Steam Works, circus sideshows, burlesque, and longtime Edwardian disc jockey Delachaux, Vau de Vire Society, and DJ Fact.50.
Just sign up for our newsletter below, and we'll choose one winner randomly. The winner will be notified via email on how to pick up his or her tickets. Good luck!
