Can you dance with our 500-pound African lion staring at you? Will your glow-sticking impress our colony of 50 Magellanic penguins? To find out, join the San Francisco Zoo for the second annual Noc’tails Silent Disco! All the stars will be aligned: galaxies over your head and the Zoo’s star babies nearby, including our Sumatran tiger cub, Jillian, and “Prince” George, one of our newest penguin chicks.
Connecting to three live DJs via headphones allows you to choose which jam you want to groove to. (The headphones protect the animals, who prefer silence to techno.) The music is powered by Silent Storm Sound System, with DJ Eli Wilkie spinning from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Next up will be DJ Earworm, DJ ALIA and DJ David Paul, who will be taking over the decks from 8:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

Animal encounters, dancing and food trucks (Boneyard, Cheese Gone Wild, Frozen Kuhsterd and others!) will take place around Lion House plaza – with the Zoo’s newest special exhibition Bugs: Outside the Box open for viewing in the Pachyderm Building. Come with an appetite, because there will be plenty to eat and drink.
Tip: Want to enjoy a night free of lines and interruptions? Buy a VIP ticket. VIPs will be treated to a cocktail reception and a preview of our new traveling exhibit, Big Bugs: Outside the Box. They will meet the Big Cat keepers in the Lion House and our penguins from Penguin Island. All food and beverage will be free in the exclusive VIP Lounge.
