Hotel stays have gone to the dogs. The trend of traveling with Fido is so popular now that Wine Country abounds with pet-friendly properties. Today’s focus: Napa and Yountville.

Westin Verasa Napa

It doesn’t get much classier than custom-designed dog beds draped with miniature Heavenly Bed duvets, personal food and water bowls, and tasty treats waiting in the Heavenly Dog Welcome Pack. The concierge also shares suggestions for local dog friendly parks and trails, wineries, shops, and restaurants.

Beazley House, Napa

For those of you with a pair of pups, Beazley House allows two dogs per room. Amenities include a Pooch Packet of treats, a Bowser Bowl, a guide to dog friendly restaurants and wineries, and a sleep sheet. Just 11 rooms keep the property intimate for everyone.

Carneros Inn, Napa

While this upscale retreat doesn't supply doggie biscuits or plush pooch bedding, they do have expansive grounds to explore, as well as a private cottage to call his own. Dogs can romp on the lawns around the restaurant, through winding trails, and up to the hilltop pavilion overlooking vineyards.

Bardessono, Yountville

This posh resort not only welcomes canines, but Lucy Restaurant & Bar offers a dog menu with a choice of three entrees and two desserts. Bonus: On October 7 from 5 to 7 pm., Lucy will present a dog-friendly happy hour hosted by Crocker & Starr Winery to showcase their new Wine Dogs of California book.

Vintage Inn, Yountville

Pups will appreciate the natural mountain creek burbling along a 250-foot watercourse throughout landscaped gardens. Look for custom food bowls, wrought iron doggy beds with plush mattresses, a welcome package with dog essentials, 24-hour treats at the front desk, and a pet-patio-friendly champagne breakfast served daily.

Lavender Inn, Yountville

This Four Sisters Inn features B&B style cottages centered around a heritage home, offering eight luxe rooms with fireplaces, full breakfast, afternoon wine, hors d'oeuvres, and fresh-baked cookies. Guests may invite two dogs per room. Canines can enjoy their own complimentary “breakfast in bed."

North Block Hotel, Yountville

Property mascot Pismo is the official canine greeter, welcoming furry guests to their comfy pet beds. This modern Tuscan-style hotel is nestled around a courtyard, offering al fresco dining from chef Richard Reddington’s Reed Wood.
