Don’t bother eating all day Friday in preparation for La Cocina’s San Francisco Street Food Festival. This Saturday Folsom Street will play host to an orgy of all the best food and music this city has to offer. Come along and celebrate the talent, the taste and the entrepreneurial spirit of people who make a living doing what they love to do. It is a free event, but make sure you bring along some cash to buy plenty of delicious food with! The festival kicks off at 11 a.m. and goes until 7 p.m. on Folsom Street from 20th to 26th.

With so many incredible food options in one city it can be difficult deciding what you are going to do. But if you are a Melon lover you should definitely head down to the Ferry Plaza for Melon Madness. It promises to be a crazy day of juicy melon-worship for all involved. You’ll be given the opportunity to taste and learn about a variety of melons, watch melon-inspired cooking demos by local chefs, and take home recipes. There will be melon themed cooking demos in the CUESA kitchen at 11:00 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. @ 1 Ferry Building.

Enjoy the Mission sun and flock to Potrero Hill this Sunday for Indie Mart. With over 100 vendors all showcasing their wares, that range from handmade, art, vintage, weird oddities, DIY workshops, customizable items, you are sure to find something to amuse and excite you. There’ll also be incredible food from local street vendors and pop-ups, as well as a myriad of beers and wine for sale. However, the best thing about the Indie Mart is that they have an after party that runs from 7-10 p.m. Held at Thee Parkside, there’ll be amazing bbq inside and out, as well as stiff drinks and cheap beers. Of course there will be music, with local bands tearing it up all night long. From 12-10 p.m. @ Thee Parkside, 1600 17th Street  and Wisconsin Street.

In keeping with the design and food theme, head along to Tee-Party Sundays. As a testament to keep Sunday a Funday, the designers at 5th Stitch Collective are throwing a little party every Sunday in August to launch a new t-shirt design each week. You’ll get to mingle with the designers, see some awesome designs, and snack up on some free cookies and free cocktails, you'll get a raffle ticket as well with every purchase every Sunday from 5-8pm. It is a free event, but the first 40 people to RSVP will get a $5 voucher. 5th Stitch Collective, 2352 Market Street.

Feeling carnal? Discover the lost art of butchery from the experts and learn more than just chopping meat. In this class you will really get your hands dirty. You’ll learn the art of home butchery as well as knife-wielding, as you learn to break down a whole lamb and a pig. Each participant will receive lunch and at least  $100 worth of meat to take home. Wo Hing General Store and Brooks Winery team up to offer a special prix fixe family style dinner and wine pairing evening. Featuring four of Brooks Winery’s wonderful Willamette Valley Wines and a prix fixe tasting menu by chef de cuisine Michelle Mah, it will be a coming together of two cultures and food styles. The menu is a delicious celebration of contemporary asian cuisine, with dumplings, claypots and salads featuring heavily. Winemaker, Chris Williams will be artfully pairing four of Brooks winery’s best wines with each meal. The evening costs $80, but doesn’t include tax and gratuity.
