August 16

If your Netflix queue is all “Orange is the New Black” episodes, than pause the TV to head over to Mugsy’s pop up at El Rio, because Mugsy happens to be the new black as well. A night of queer winemakers and bread maker Fox & Lion, you don’t have to be on the spectrum to enjoy the selection of wines that include Gratta Wine’s new Garage Blend and enjoy the fun atmosphere. @ 3158 Mission St. 5:30 – 8:30 pm, August 16th.

August 17

The best remedy to recover from the music of Outside Lands is more live music. But the best way to recover from the food and wine? Easy — the 5th Annual SF Street Food Festival is here to soothe your foodie woes. Taking over four blocks of Folsom, the festival is hosted by La Cocina to celebrate the vendors of La Cocina’s incubator program and other amazing food vendors of San Francisco. To put it simply, it’s the place to be this weekend if you love the food of the city. And don't forget about the Night Market later that evening, with food that represent regions all over the world and craft cocktail bars. SF Street Food Fest @ Folsom St. from 22nd to 26th, starting at 11 am until 7 pm. Night Market will be 6 - 10 pm with a free shuttle from 24th Mission BART, register for your shuttle when you buy your ticket here.

August 18

Juice in the bay is on a roll — and Sōw Juice is no exception. A farm-sourced set of juices created to order, you can usually only find Sōw at the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market Thursday and Saturday mornings. But now you can head to the Dogpatch for your juice on an extra day of the week. Sōw will create their in-season organic juices at Yield Wine Bar on Sundays, giving you a chance to start your week fresh. Sundays 10 am – 3 pm, 2490 3rd St. @ 22nd.

There’s something about the South this week. This Sunday Southern Foodways Alliance will present Potlikker Napa at Whetstone Wine Cellars, for a night of the best Southern pitmasters and some of the best NorCal chefs. With dishes that include pit-cooked swine, the SFA will present a new exhibit that is based on barbeque oral history from the American South. It’ll be a night of delicious food and learning the recipe’s roots. @ 1075 Atlas Peak Rd., Napa from 5 – 8 pm on August 18th. Tickets are $125 per person and can be bought here.

August 21

Jack London Square's Lungomare restaurant will team up with Emeryville's Vinity WIne Company to host this month's "Dine and Unwind" event–the perfect way to kick back with tasty Italian-inspired eats, palate-pleasing, artisanal wines, live music, and good company on the waterfront in Oakland. The four-course menu (with wine pairings) is only $50 a head, and includes dishes like Carpaccio of Local Halibut with Heirloom Tomato, Mint, and Watermelon, a Fig and Mascarpone Tart, and more. A portion of the proceeds will go to benefit Bay Area youth soccer organization My Yute Soccer. @ One Broadway, Oakland. Seating is available from 5:30 – 10 pm.
