The James Beard Foundation, a legendary New York-based non-profit dedicated to promoting the culinary arts, is touring the U.S. with their 2nd Taste America showcase. While the dinner is sold out, tickets are available for the “Sweet & Savory Indulgences After Party” where renowned pastry chefs will serve some of their inspired creations. Join Thad Vogler (Bar Agricole), Erik Adkins (The Slanted Door Group), Carlo Splendorini (Mina Group) and Jonathan Santer as they pair delicious cocktails and desserts. Saturday, October 5

Restaurateur Anna Weinberg’s latest restaurant The Cavalier is already a hit with diners, having recently received a three-star review in the Chronicle. The team has now expanded its menu and hours to include breakfast and lunch! Breakfast centers around English breakfast-style items like Toasted Pullman, Smoked Salmon, and Hen Egg Hollandaise. Lunch fare features the “boat of prawns,” an update on the classic shrimp cocktail, and the “bold but balanced” Cavalier Salad. Breakfast is served all day from 7 a.m.; lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. 360 Jessie St.

Sunday, October 6

Oakland’s Canoe Club brings together three of life’s finest delicacies: burgers, beer, and bands. Spearheaded by culinary mastermind Stephen Thorlton (State Bird Provisions, NOPA), don’t miss this chance to overload your senses with insanely delicious burgers, hand-crafted beers, and local bands. Sens Restaurant in the Embarcadero, already known as one of the Bay Area’s finest purveyors of Mediterranean food, is opening its doors for Sunday brunch. Just in time for the true summer in San Francisco, brunch at Sens can be enjoyed on the gorgeous outdoor patio with views overlooking the Bay Bridge and the Ferry Building. Dishes include the Olive Oil Poached Tuna Fattoush, Eggs en Cocotte, and Grilled Merguez Sausages & Eggs. Interested in experiencing a pumpkin beer from the pumpkin capital of the world? You’re in luck! The Half Moon Bay Brewing Company is celebrating its 14th annual release of the Pumpkin Harvest Amber Ale, made from more than 120 pounds of local roasted sugar pie pumpkins. The brewpub will also be featuring a menu of pumpkin themed food items to pair with this delicious brew, such as the decadent Dungeness Crab Pumpkin Bisque or the Gingersnap Crust Pumpkin Cheesecake.
